Depends on the law firm! None of the amazon folks have heard yet from Fragomen. To be honest, I’m feeling oddly indifferent about this.

Yup. It depends on the firm/employer. Sometimes later just has a Immigration team and does not let the employee directly interact with Attorney.

I hope you get picked :thumbup:

I heard there were 275k applicants this year. Lowering the difficulty of filing definitely seems to have had an effect!

I heard there were 275k applicants this year. Lowering the difficulty of filing definitely seems to have had an effect!

The H-1B electronic registration process was well-received by users, who provided a high satisfaction score with the system. Nearly 275,000 unique registrations were submitted during the initial registration period. Roughly 46% of all registrations were for prospective beneficiaries with U.S. advanced degrees. There were more than 40,000 registration accounts created, and nearly 81% of submitted registrations were for potential beneficiaries from India (67.7%) and China (13.2%).

Congrats!

P.S. Not to scare you but an interesting situation is developing with some companies having to furlough employees in airline and hospitality industries. There are H1B limits on how long people can remain without employment/hours of work/etc. It is tricky but companies are aware of it and are working with H1B holders to make sure the status does not lapse. Though obviously if the economic slump extends for a while, and there lay offs, further furloughs, it won't be pretty for H1B holders. At the same time, on the positive side, for the graduates, H1B's will be abundant and won't require a lottery.

I have a friend whose H1B extension got denied on March 16th.. Technically he was supposed to leave by March 26th. But India issued travel restrictions ( complete lock down) so now he has no option but to accumulate unlawful status. He has applied change of status to B2 (tourist) visa (apparently there is a provision to do that as well this country is way too complex) but I don't think that will help him a lot. As of now, No US Pay because he is not supposed to work.. All he is earning is his Indian Salary. And above all this, Even when he goes back (hopefully after April 14th, he won't be able to visit his family for 14 days. Sucks big time!!!!
