Hi,
Let's try to find error/s in the given sentence.
There are two comparisons in this sentence.
1.no. of students present in the class today are compared with the no. of students present yesterday.
2. this no. is still less than last week's no.
A. has comparison error in both the clauses.
In the first dependent clause the no. of students present in the class today are wrongly compared to yesterday.
They must be compared to the no. of students that were present yesterday instead of just 'YESTERDAY'.
The second clause i.e independent clause also has an comparison error as it compares no. to last week instead of last week's no.
B. comparison error in the second clause definitely.
C.Much is a non countable word .Again error in comparison in the first clause.
D. I rejected it because last week's I think should be followed by no. or figure basically a noun. Also we need more in the first clause.
E. seemed way better than D. It rectifies both the comparison error in a very clean way "as compared to D".
