My profile in summary:

GMAT: 750

Age: 32 M

Undergrad from India: GPA 4 (went to a top private school and a rank holder of that matters)

Masters in Engineering from UT Austin
: GPA 3.6 (A+ in Math courses)

Total years of experience across three countries: 7 years (India, US,Canada)

Work experience:
Worked for a semiconductor giant for many years. Several products that I have worked on have made it to market. Have good progression to show and can get good recommendations. Have won several notable accolades along the way

Currently working as a PM in a startup
I intend to continue in Tech post my MBA

I feel a need to strengthen my business skills and I mostly transitioned to a PM role out of a boot camp. I see myself as a global executive in the future and have solid international experience to show

Target schools: Kellogg Tuck Haas CBS Yale MIT Kellogg ( I’m still reviewing the list)

Post MBA options: I am a Canadian Permanent resident and have my citizenship under process. I also have approved H1b that I can use if I decide to stay back in the US. I can use this to advantage and highlight these points in the optional essay

How would the age factor come into the picture and are there any universities in T-15 which do not look down at slightly older candidates

Hi rafa90, you have a great profile (and for a deeper profile review, please send me these details to shimriw@ARINGO.com)

To answer your "age question - from 100s of interviews with the director of admissions in ALL top schools, I can conclude that age is hardly a factor. BUT, what is a key factor is the number of years of experience you hold
Candidates with more than 10y of experience are in "the orange zone" and candidates with more than 12y, well should look for alternatives to the regular full-time MBA (there are full-time alternatives, as I described here: https://www.aringo.com/mba-over-30/)

In your case, you have two degrees and 7 years of AMAZING, international experience, you can definitely apply this year and your age will not be a key factor!

So as a Bangladeshi, I am basically competing with other Bangladeshis, and not Indians.
again, in a nutshell, yes, but to be more accurate, you are compared with people from YOUR background. for example, Harvard will not take more than X lawyers, Z consultants, Y accountants. they also won’t take more than X Indians, Y Canadians, and Z Bangladeshis

These numbers are not public and do change from year to year, but the idea is to create the most diverse class possible in terms of origin, background, gender, etc.

GMAT: 730 (Q47/V44)

Age: 24

Undergrad from T50 USA School (3.32 GPA; Math & Economics) - lower GPA from working 20+ hours all through college which I’ll include in Optional Essay

WE: 3 years at Marticulation

2 Years at a Fortune 200 company under Financial Planning; 1 promotion. Also founded a small tutoring business, revenue $50K and 4-5 part time employees. Looking to break into Product Management in Big Tech and later pivot into Educational Technology (ideally my own company) to help underprivileged youth.

Target schools: M7; Haas; NYU Stern

I realize I am young and am targeting Round 2 as per recommendations from some students. What can I do to overcome my age and lower WE? Currently studying to improve my GMAT Score as that’s the only thing I can think of. Hopefully the small business will show entrepreneurship.

Anyone got through MBA school with GMAT Waiver?

Hi HSK2810
YES!!! last year we had candidates get into MIT, Cornell, NYU, Mccombs, USC, Ross and others with GMAT Waivers!

This year, I am already working with some candidates who applied to GMAT Waivers. We have already received GMAT Waivers for our candidates at MIT, Ross, Cornell, NYU and Kelley (Mccombs denied everyone :) and still awaiting for Emory Tepper and UNC )

To expand, I actually do Merchandise Planning in a very well known retail company; its similar to Financial Planning/Strategic Planning but hard to explain.

Is that the policy for Harvard/M7 only or is it applicable for most of the T20 business schools?

ARINGO, How can I get some guidance if I want to know that applying for GMAT waiver will not harm my chances, and also some guidance if I will get the waiver or not.
