Yield protect, bro. Pay it no mind. Ironically, when I first started applying it was my first choice. A couple hours after the interview, I withdrew (but apparently they didn't get the memo and sent a ding along anyways). It happens. Good luck on your other applications.

I just logged in to my application and it says "Application Status: Offer" but I didn't get a call or email yet. I was without cell service a few times the last couple days, but still find it odd there was no voicemail or anything. In any case, Woohoo!!

I gave my interview last month. Megan interviewed me. I think it lasted around 30 mins. She had me talk about my most recent role and here's a recap of some of the behavioral questions asked:
How do you handle negative feedback
What capabilities do you have that will help you contribute to business/school
Tell me about a time when you effected a change
Who was the most influential person in your work experience
Experience with leadership

She also asked what am I looking for in the program (or what am i looking to gain).

Hi crackHSW, thanks for your time in helping prospective Foster MBAs. I have been accepted and 95% will be attending unless i hear from other schools. Can you tell me different roles that are offered in the tech space? I hear that Product Management and Product Marketing are the predominant ones, but i am curious to know if any tech consulting (Deloitte etc) and tech strategy ( like Emerson has) figure in the scheme of things?

Also, if you can throw some light on TA/RA once i land up in Seattle. I have not been offered any scholarship so need to know if there are any avenues on campus to make some $$$.

Finally, can you tell me the full 2 year tuition? The website mentions the first year fees as 57K. Is it the same for the second year?

Thanks for reaching out .

So here are the different roles in Tech companies :

Product Management
Product marketing manager
Business Planner
Product Planner

The roles vary according to the firm. For example MS will have something on the lines of

Product marketing manager
Business Planner
Product Planner

whereas AMZ would have Product management. Every tech firm has the definition of Product management somewhat twisted. In the tech powerhouses such as Google and Apple PM would be more technical roles than AMZ or MS.

Deloitte comes to Foster for its S&O role , so I am pretty sure a tech consulting should not be difficult. Recent Foster grads have had Deloitte S&O offers and tech consulting roles both. Emerson , I have not heard of it but i will check and get back to you.

For the first year the course load will kill you , so even though you might need $$$ , the time constraints are super heavy and when I say super heavy I mean stretch a day to 30 hours and you will still be in want of more hours. Having said that , after 2 quarters of grind you should have some avenues , such as the fellowships etc. TA/RA are typically available after the first quarter , but most of the students typically don't take it because from 2nd quarter students are pretty busy with internship hunt. The hunt is pretty time consuming.

The first year expense would be anywhere close to 55K (43K+living+books+case studies). Your two year fee would be 55K*2 , but hang on after the 3rd quarter of first year I have not seen many people putting money into the program. Typically people continue their summer internship part time, become TA/RA and earn enough to buy cars :-D . So you should be fine in after 9-10 months of the MBA program.

Thanks CrackHSW. That was really helpful. Can you let me know about housing in and around the campus? I have gone through Foster website and i see that 2BHK on campus is about $900. It is better to stay on campus or is it cheaper off campus? I have a family so will need at least 2BHK and cannot share an apartment :-(

The application asks me for my "major GPA". What year(s) do I calculate it for? I did engineering from an Indian school (no surprises!) so the last 2 years or only the last 1 year? (4 semesters or 2 semesters resp.)

Also, what did you guys do about TOEFL? All my UG (and prior) education has been entirely in English - my transcripts say this too.
But still it lists my TOEFL as "mandatory" in the application..

I am WL from Round 2. I assume the only further communication would be an update in the admission status! So, we may have to wait till the next decision deadline!
