Waitlisted R2. Now I need to figure out what additional info I can submit and whether I can rustle up a recommendation from another alum. Congrats to any R1 waitlisters who were admitted today!

Yay Waitlist!

Is it true that the lucky few that will migrate from WL to Admitted won't hear back until the Round 3 Decision, or is it rolling based on admitted people who withdraw? I guess May 9th isn't terribly far away, but after looking through past years WL board it seems like they string you along until August. That seems like a ridiculous amount of time to wait.

I guess I will just start my WL update email like the rest of the group....

Time to go to Mr. Baldwin for some sage advice on selling:

No Cadillac El Dorado for me... but maybe, with some skill and a bit of luck, a set of steak knives!

You may, but in all probability they won't offer you one. (Their standard policy)

The first post on this thread has a couple of links for waitlist management tips. Go through them if you are feeling lost. There were a few WL'd candidates from EA/R1 who heard back yesterday, so all is not lost.

Good luck!

You can try...I was told they don't give any feedback to candidates though, unfortunately.

I interviewed on campus for round 2 and was waitlisted. Does anyone know if Duke interviews most candidates? I know some programs interview most, but is this the case for Duke as well? If so, then that will make me approach my waitlist strategy with a different view.

Also, it doesn't look like they provide feedback, which is frustrating given most programs do. It is almost like reaching into the dark. If anyone got feedback, then let us know, that way we (I) know I just spoke to the wrong person.

It's funny the different reactions I get when I tell people I'm on the waitlist - a good 50/50 blend of congratulations and sympathy. I'm excited! I wasn't invited for a R2 interview so I thought for sure I was going to get rejected when the R2 decisions came out. Without an interview, waitlist is as good as it gets, so I'm happy! AND I got invited for a R3 interview, apparently... so things are looking up.

Nicely done. The waitlist may turn out pretty well for you.

As far as I know, only Kellogg interviews everyone, and I know Tepper interviewed 50% of its applicants this year. Duke, like most other schools, typically interviews 30-40% of the applicants.

I'm also thinking about the 'strategy" to get off the list but I can't think of anything else other than additional recommendation letters, add'l achievement at work (bonus & promotion), community services, etc. Also I don't think retaking GMAT would help much if your first one has already passed the average, unless your Q score was weak or getting some crazy high score.

I guess 80% of the people on the waitlist would do similar work to gain reconsideration, so the competition starts again. :(

Hey guys - I'm joining you all in this waitlist game.
Has anyone else read all 31 pages of last year's waitlist thread?

Some interesting notes: the only ones to get off the waitlist were passive and did not contact adcom. I really don't know what to think about this.
Good news is, however, most enthusiastic waitlist applicants last year found better luck this year through EA.

Hmmm... I did read last year's thread, but I didn't interpret it that way at all. It sounded like most people sent an update, but didn't do anything aside from that.
