Franklin School of Business is organizing a weekend series for business students to learn from academic and business experts. The series will be in the form of interviews with experts and will take place on the first Saturday and Sunday of the spring semester. On both days, five speakers will be interviewed, each of them will either be a faculty or an entrepreneur. In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Four experts on each day have already been confirmed. The following schedule shows the experts’ details – profession, area of expertise, and industry.

Saturday

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Sunday

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing
Select an expert who could be the fifth expert on either day. Then select an expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Choose for neither of the day:
The majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
=> On Saturday we already have 2 experts in E-commerce - Hoffman and Epstein => we cannot choose another who is also an expert in E-commerce => choose Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce

Choose for either of the day: On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.
Since Saturday already have 3 entrepreneurs, we need another entrepreneur who is not an expert in Finance and E-commerce => choose Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles

Four Entrepreneurs are only possible on Saturday, and Finance can't be chosen on either day if the entrepreneur is chosen for Saturday. Otherwise, Finance can be an option for Saturday.
E-commerce can't be chosen for Saturday, and Retail can't be chosen for Sunday.

5 speakers per day. Have to check speaks that fit both days or neither.

Quick listing the conditions:
- atleast 4 entrepreneurs on a day & other day doesn't major in finance
- max 2 same industry experts on any day

If we see the 4 speakers for each day, Sunday has 2 entrepreneurs out of 4 and adding a entrepreneur as 5th speaker won't make it cross 4 as per one of our conditions. So Saturday has to be the day with atleast 4 entrepreneurs.

That automatically puts Sunday as day with finance as non Majority.

If we put what we got
Speaker that qualifies for both days must be
Entrepreneur, non finance

Non E-commerce too since Saturday already has 2 in that industry.

So, for either day we rule out Taffe, Crowe, Pyne, Grabo and Vandaley.

Mulick is the option for either days

For neither day, we see Crowe fit well among all options, since they are not entrepreneur to be on Saturday, also disqualify from Sunday as they got finance.

Ans D and B
D- Fits Saturday: Adds an entrepreneur and no industry conflict.
Fits Sunday: Adds an entrepreneur and no industry conflict.

On Saturday, adding Crowe would make 3 Finance experts (O'Reilly, Jenson, Crowe).
On Sunday, adding Crowe would make 3 Finance experts (Martinez, Kahl, Crowe).

Since On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed and since sunday has 2 entrepreuners and saturday has 3 entrepreuners, then Saturday must have an expert entrepreuner
so we retain Taffe, Pyne , Mulick for either day
we can only retain for the Neither day Crowe, Carbo, vandaley

Since the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance, and both saturday and sunday have 2 experts in finance, we cannot add another expert in finance, otherwise we'll be having a majority of finance ( 3 vs 2), then saturday and sunday must not have finance expert
So we retain Pyne and Mulick for either day
Only Crowe stay in Neither day

Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce must not be in either days is out from Either day

We can conclude that
Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles is Either Day
Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports in on Neither day is Neither day

Explanation and answer:
Saturday - the day with at least 4 entrepreneurs as speakers, so the 5th speaker must be an entreprener
Sunday - majority NOT finance; so the 5th speaker must NOT be from Finance

Therefore, for Saturday; there are three possible options:
Taffe, Pyne and Mulick
Taffe gets crossed out for Sunday, as the day cannot have one more speaker from Finance, and we have 2 left: Pyne and Mulick
Saturday already has 2 speakers from e-commerce industry, so Pyne gets eliminated
Therefore, Mulick is the only speaker who could be the fifth expert on either day.

For neither day, the speaker cannot be an entrepeneur, so we have Garbo and Crowe, and cannot be someone from Finance, so Crowe is the one who could be the fifth expert on neither day.

We know one of the days should have 4 entreprenurs and other day should not have more than 2 finance persons.

Looking at the four experts on each day, it is clear that Saturday should have 4 entreprenurs and sunday should not have more than 2 finance persons.

Consderig other criteria, we can deduct the following about the fifth person for each day

Saturday -
Should be an entreprenur
Should not be from e-commernce

Sunday
Should not be finance.

Taffe can be on saturday but cannot be on Sunday.
Crowe can be on neither day ( not satuday since he's not entreprenur and not on sunday since he's finance)
Pyne cannot be on saturday but can be on Sunday.
Mulick can be on either day.
Garbo cannot be on saturday but can be on Sunday.
Vandaley annot be on saturday but can be on Sunday.

As option E [Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality] is not violating any condition, it can be interviewed on either of the 2 days.
Option B [Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports] can not be interviewed on:
-Saturday because we need only an entrepreneur
-Sunday because we don't want a finance expert.
Thus, either days - option E, neither days = option B.
