The restrictions are:

1. Majority of 1 day --> not from Finance
2. Other Day --> at least 4 entrepeneurs
3. No day more than two of the same industry

and we have these speakers already selected:

Saturday --> Can't be another from finance

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

Sunday --> Can't be another from Retail

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Either --> Mulick, because it has to be an entrepeneur so Saturday could be the day with at least 4 entrepeneurs, and it is not from either finance or retail

Neither --> Crowe, because it is not an entrepeneur and its form finance

The series will be in the form of interviews with experts and will take place on the first Saturday and Sunday of the spring semester. On both days, five speakers will be interviewed, each of them will either be a faculty or an entrepreneur. In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Four experts on each day have already been confirmed. The following schedule shows the experts’ details – profession, area of expertise, and industry.

Saturday

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Sunday

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

### Constraints:
1. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
2. On one of the days, the majority of interviews will not be from Finance.
3. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.

### Existing Schedule:

**Saturday:**
1. O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
2. Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
3. Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
4. Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

**Sunday:**
1. Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
2. Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
3. Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
4. Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

### Analysis:

#### Saturday:
- We have 2 experts in Marketing, E-commerce (Hoffman and Epstein).
- We have 2 experts in Finance (O’Reilly and Jenson).
- To avoid having more than two experts from the same industry, we need to choose an expert who is neither from Finance nor Marketing, E-commerce.

#### Sunday:
- We have 2 experts in Finance (Martinez and Kahl).
- We have 1 expert in Strategy (Wahba).
- We have 1 expert in Operations (Emanuel).
- To avoid having more than two experts from the same industry, we need to choose an expert who is not from Finance, Strategy, or Operations.

#### Options for Fifth Expert:
1. Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports
2. Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports
3. Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
4. Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles
5. Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality
6. Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce

#### Suitable Expert for Saturday:
- **Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles**: This option is suitable because Mulick is from HR, Automobiles, which is a different industry from the existing experts on Saturday.

#### Suitable Expert for Sunday:
- **Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles**: This option is suitable because Mulick is from HR, Automobiles, which is a different industry from the existing experts on Sunday.
- **Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality**: This option is suitable because Garbo is from Strategy, Hospitality, which is a different industry from the existing experts on Sunday.
- Since Mulick fits both days, we should also check for any other valid options to avoid repetition.

#### Expert Suitable for Neither Day:
- **Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce**: Pyne is not suitable for either day because adding Pyne would result in more than two experts from Marketing, E-commerce on both days.

### Final Selection:
- **Expert who could be the fifth expert on either day:**
  - **Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles**

- **Expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day:**
  - **Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce**

Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Select an expert who could be the fifth expert on either day. Then select an expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports : Good fit for Saturday, as we need 4 entrepreneurs along with majority of finance on any one day

Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports: Not on either day (as we need majority in Finance interviews only when there are 4 Entrepreneurs.)

Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce : Not on Saturday as already 2 persons from E-commerce are there. We can't have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles: Good fit for any day.

Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality: Not fit for Saturday as we need 4 entrepreneurs on anu one day.

Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce : Not on Saturday as already 2 persons from E-commerce are there. We can't have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Either day
At least 4 entrepreneurs can be interviewed only on sat since we already have 3 entrepreneurs there
So for either day, we must have a choice with entrepreneur. Pyne is rejected because same industry cannot be there more than twice. Taffe is rejected because we would have finance as majority on both days. Hence Mulick is suited for both days

Neither day
Crowe is not possible on Sat since we need at least 4 entrepreneurs on saturday and crowe is a faculty. Crowe is not posible on sunday since finance will be a majority on Sunday

After the opening day of the week,
We're back to business.
I feel the luck is going to shift to our Green team as we get closer to the end of the Champions.
Let's get started with our explanation for this topic:

Glance - the Question&Answer Choices:
Question: We have here a word problem. kind of Logic one.
Answer Choices: this question is type of given constraints and we need to work by eliminating process.

Rephrase - Reading and Understanding the question:
Given:
2 Days.
Each of them 5 speakers are going to speak
we have already 4, we need to choose the last one.
Constraints of Both days:
-cannot be from the same industry
-cannot be from finance (because only one day can be with majority of finance)
-Must be entrepreneur (for day 1)
Constraints of Neither days:

[?]: Choosing one that fit both days and one who cannot fit neither days.

Solve:
First let's find the either day (the easy one):
Entrepreneur = 3 options Taffe, Pyne, Mulick
Now we need also: No E-commerce, No Finance => Taffe is out, Pyne is out, We got Mulik :).

Now, Let's find the neither day:
On day 1 we need to find: 1) E-commerce and no entrepreneur (Faculty) => So we have only Vadaley.
On day 2 we need finance but Vadaley is marketing.
Thus, we have neither day here. - Vadaley

Our answer choices are: Mulik & Vadaley

THE END
I hope you liked the explanation, I have tried my best here.
Let me know if you have any questions about this question or my explanation.

Let's first put down the conditions:
  • One day cannot have 3 or more Finance guests.
  • The other day will have 4 or 5 entrepreneurs.
  • Same industry cannot be repeated 3 or more times per day.

And take a brief look at the selected speakers:
Quote:
Saturday
O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Quote:
 Sunday
Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Judging by these guys, the only day with 4 possible entrepreneurs will be Saturday. This makes Sunday 'the other day', when we can't have 3 finance guests (but we can on Saturday).
As far as industries go, we can't have any more E-commerce on Sat; and we can't have more Retail on Sun, and no more Finance as well.

Therefore, summing up the restrictions:
  • Saturday: MUST be an Entrepreneur + NOT E-commerce
  • Sunday: NOT from Finance, NOT Retail

Now it's obvious, that the only entrepreneur with 'fresh' industry and not from finance is Mulick, and he can speak on both days.
As for neither of the days, it has to be a faculty member from Finance - which is Crowe, and he cannot speak on either day.

Let's break down Saturday and Sunday into 3 categories:

SATURDAY:
1. Fac  |  Fin    |  Fashion
2. Ent  |  Mktg |  E-com
3. Ent  |  Mktg |  E-com
4. Ent  |  Fin    |  Retail

SUNDAY:
1. Ent  |  Fin    |  Retail
2. Ent  |  Fin    |  Retail
3. Fac  |  Strat |  Edu
4. Fac  |  Op    |  Manuf

Now, the conditions are:
I. On one day, Fin is not the majority and the other day atleast 4 speakers are Ent.
II. No more than two speakers from the same industry on any day.

Solution:
Since even after accommodating another Ent on Sunday, the toll of Ent would'nt be >=4, Ent should be added on Saturday.
Saturday can't accommodate speaker from E-com industry
.
Similarly, sunday can't accommodate speaker from retail industry.
Moreover, the to be added speaker's area of industry cannot be from Finance on sunday as on saturday the no. of Ent has to be >=4.

Thus, for Either Day: Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles is the right choice as it follows all the conditions for each of the days.
And for Neither DayCrowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports as it breaches conditions for both the days.

Hence, the answers.

There is a lot of information to digest and take into account in this question but we just need to start with one end and work our way through.

Having quickly looked at the answer choices and then back to the text, I chose to go for the following information, "On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed". If you look at the answer choices, you will see that there is one day with two entrepreneurs and another with three. Since there must be four entrepreneurs on one day I knew that there had to be an expert who was an entrepreneur on the fifth day. There were three answer choices to pick from. These two pieces of information helped make eliminate two of the options
1. "the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance"
2. "Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry."

Pyne was in E-commerce which would have made three interviews with experts from the same industry and Taffe did finance which would have put finance in the majority for both days. So I was left with Mulick who could be an expert on either day.

Now to find the expert who could not be on either day. We were left with Taffe, Pyne, Vandaley, Garbo and Crowe. Vandaley was in E-Commerce and Marketing; although he could not appear on Saturday since there were already two E-Commerce, he was eligible for Sunday. Garbo was eligible for Sunday so it could not be him. Pyne was eligible for Sunday so it could not be him either.

So it is between Taffe and Crowe

There is one vital piece of information in the question that we need to consider. Or better, there are two pieces of information that must be used in conjunction.

1. The majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance.
2. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.

Since we know that there can only be four entrepreneurs on Saturday, we know that statement 2 is referring to Saturday. And Since Statement 2 starts off as "on the other day", we can deduce that Statement 1 is referring to Sunday.

So these are the two statements revised.

1. The majority of interviews on Sunday will not be from Finance. Therefore Finance must be in the minority on Sunday.
2. On Saturday, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.

If we look at Taffe he is an entrepreneur and in Finance. He doesn't work for Sunday because he is in Finance and therefore would put it in the majority on Sunday. However, nothing is said about Saturday and he is an entrepreneur which would fit the four entrepreneur requirement. So Taffe does not work.

We are left with Crowe. Crowe is Faculty, in Finance and Sports. He doesn't fit for Saturday since he is not an Entrepreneur and four entrepreneurs are needed. And he doesn't fit for Sunday since he's in Finance, which would put Finance in the majority.

So the two experts are Mulick for either day and Crowe for neither day.

On Saturday or Sunday, five speakers will be interviewed, each of them will either be a faculty or an entrepreneur
the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance ==> this means on one day it will not be majority but other day it can be a majority or may not be a majority... so two options are there ( 1 day finance majority, or none of the days finance majority)
On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed
Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Saturday: Profession: (3 Entrepreneur, 1 Faculty);  Subject: (2 Finance , 2 Marketing);  Industry: (2 E-commerce, 1 Fashion & 1 Retail)
Sunday: Profession: (2 Entrepreneur, 2 Faculty);  Subject: (2 Finance , 1 Strategy, 1 Operations);  Industry: (2 Retail, 1 Education & 1 Manufacturing)

a) Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports---- Finance will be majority in both day...so it fits one day but does not fit other day where majority will not be from Finance

b) Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports --Faculty will ensure none of the day four entrepreneurs are interviewed.-- does not fit either day
Finance will make it majority on both days ----  does not fit
Sports is a different industry so it firts both days --- fits both days

c) Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce --Ecommerce will be majority on Saturday which is not required as excerpts forbid this

d) Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles ---Entrepreneur fits as Saturday will have 4 entrepreneurs and other day it will have 3...so it fits argument. HR will be another subject. so Finance will be majority on Sunday but not on Saturday. So it fits here as well. Automobile is a separate industry so we do not have more than two interviews from same industry
Fits either day

e) Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality ---- Faculty will ensure none of the day four entrepreneurs are interviewed.--- does not go well on either days
Strategy will not make Finance a majority on Saturday as well as on Sunday so it obeys that majority on one of the days will not be from Finance-- fits both days
Hospitality works well on both days as it is a new industry and none of the experts are from same industry--- fits both days

f) Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce--Faculty will ensure none of the day four entrepreneurs are interviewed-- does not go well on either days
Marketing will not make Finance a majority on Saturday and on Sunday so it obeys that majority on one of the days will not be from Finance-- fits both days
E-commerce will not work for Saturday but will work for Sunday --- fits one day but not other day

Out of Crowe and Vandalay, Crowe is better choice for fifth expert on Neither day

It is clear from this statement that the individual selected on Saturday MUST be an entrepeneur to align with restriction (2). Therefore, the individual that cannot be there on both days must be from Faculty.
Both days also have two individuals already from Finance and since there must be at least one day without the majority of individuals from Finance, the Finance individuals cannot be there for both days.
Furthermore, we already have two people from Marketing on Saturday, so we cannot have that repeated.

Let's look at our options and mark the restrictions:

Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports
Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports -> Neither day
Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles -> Either day
Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality
Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce

The answers are:
Mulick -> either day
Crowe -> neither day

Main conditions - In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance.
On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.

Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
Now if you observe carefully in the give data of saturday and sunday
Saturday (already has 3 entrepreneur) Means saturday is the day will 4 Entrepreneur and sunday is the day where finance is not majority

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

Sunday-No finance majority.

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Therefore conditions that are to be considered while selections,
For saturday - profession - Entrepreneur, area of expertise - Can be anything , and industry - anything except E-commerce.
For sunday - profession - can be anything, area of expertise - anything except finance, and industry - anything except Retail.

Therefore, criteria for fifth person -
expert who could be the fifth expert on either day - Profession - Entrepreneur, area of expertise - anything except finance, and industry - anything except Retail and E-commerce.
expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. - Profession - Faculty must, area of expertise - finance must, and industry - anything.

Now lets evaluate options -
A. Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports - (Rejected for both either days - because of finance and neither days - because of profession)
B. Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports - (Rejected for either days - because of faculty and finance But, Selected for neither as it follows all necessary conditions)
C. Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce - (Rejected for both either days - because of Industry E-commerce and neither days - because of profession)
D. Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles - (Selected for either days as it follows all necessary conditions But, rejected for neither days - because of profession)
E. Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality - (Rejected for both either days - because of profession faculty and neither days - because of area of experties)
F. Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce - (Rejected for both either days - because of profession faculty and industry E-commerece and neither days - because of area of experties)

Answers -
Eiether day - Option D.
Neither day - Option B.

Franklin School of Business is organizing a weekend series for business students to learn from academic and business experts.

Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing
Select an expert who could be the fifth expert on either day. Then select an expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Note that on one of the two days, there are four or five entrepreneurs that need to be interviewed. This cannot be done on Sunday as the only two entrepreneur experts available are both from Retail, and adding one more expert would only add one more interview to the three.

Given that there’s three entrepreneur experts on Saturday, there’ll be four entrepreneurs that will be interviewed, thus the fifth expert will have to be an entrepreneur in any field but E-commerce.

On Sunday, since Saturday has four entrepreneurs, there cannot be more than 2 experts from Finance.

Now, among the given options Crowe is one who can be neither of the experts on Saturday on Sunday, for being a Faculty and from Finance respectively, and Mullick is one who can be either of the experts, for being an Entrepreneur not from E-commerce and not being from Finance respectively.

ANY DAY
in day one we have 3 entrepreneurs so we need 1 more to fulfill the constrain of at least 4
but that person cannot be in finance because in both days there will be the case that the majority of speakers will be from finance. Also this person cannot be in E-Commerce or Retail because neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE SHE ON FINANCE
Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE SHE ON FINANCE AND SHES NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR
Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS E-COMMERCE
Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles CORRECT  BECAUSE HE IS AN ENTREPRENEUR AND IS NOT IN FINANCE AND HE IS NOT IN RETAIL OR E-COMMERCE
Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR
Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR AND HE IS IN E-COMMERCE

NEITHER DAY
Any person who is in Finance and is not an entrepeneur and is in e-commerce or retail.

Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE SHE IS AN ENTREPRENEUR EVEN SHE ON FINANCE
Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports CORRECT BECAUSE SHE ON FINANCE AND SHES NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR
Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS AN ENTREPRENEUR EVEN HE IS IN E-COMMERCE
Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS AN ENTREPRENEUR
Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS NOT IN FINANCE
Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE IS IN E-COMMERCE

Conditions are- on one day more than 4 experts on entreprenuer will be interviewed and on the other day, the majority of the interviewees must not from finance (any field).
Of the 2 days, none should have more than 2 experts from the same field.

From these we find that -
Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports = Cannot join the 1st day because, then, finance will constitute the majority.

Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports = Cannot be in either because the first one needs entreprenuer and second cannot take
anyone from finance (provided rule

Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce = cannot join 1st day because we cannot have more than 2 experts from same
field - marketing.

Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles = Can join both days because day 1 needs an antreprenuer from different field other than marketing and in day 2, it doesn't violate any of the rules.

Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality
Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce
