Franklin School of Business is organizing a weekend series for business students to learn from academic and business experts. The series will be in the form of interviews with experts and will take place on the first Saturday and Sunday of the spring semester. On both days, five speakers will be interviewed, each of them will either be a faculty or an entrepreneur. In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Four experts on each day have already been confirmed. The following schedule shows the experts’ details – profession, area of expertise, and industry.

Saturday

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

Sunday

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Select an expert who could be the fifth expert on either day. Then select an expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Constraints:
1. One day will be 4 Entrepreneur (Saturday) and other day (sunday) cannot have majority of Finance
2. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports
can be part of day 1 but can't be part of day 2 as that would make number of poeple from finance on that day 3

Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports
can't be part of both days as day 1 require an Entrepreneur and day 2 shouldn't have a finance person [Nither]

Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
can't be part of day 1 as there are already 2 members from marketing

Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles
can be part of both days [Either]

"In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed."
This means on Sunday interview will not be from finance. On saturday, an Entrepreneur will take the lesson.

"Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry."
We cannot have retail on Sunday and E-commerce on Saturday.

Either Days-
Eliminate Faculty as (On saturday, an Entrepreneur will take the lesson.)
Eliminate Finance. (On Sunday, interview will not be from finance).
Eliminate E-commerce ( On saturday, E-commerce lesson cannot be taken).
Either Days- :Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles

Neither Days -
Select Faculty  and Finance.
Only available choice is "Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports".
Neither Days - Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports

Imo 1-4 2-2

You're correct. Let's identify one expert who could be the fifth expert for either day and another who could be the fifth expert for neither day.

### Analysis for Saturday:

- O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
- Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
- Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
- Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

### Analysis for Sunday:

- Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
- Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
- Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
- Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

### Potential Fifth Experts:

**Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports**

- For Saturday: Would make 3 Finance experts, violating the constraint.
- For Sunday: Would make 3 Finance experts, violating the constraint.

**Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports**

- For Saturday: Would make 3 Finance experts, violating the constraint.
- For Sunday: Would make 3 Finance experts, violating the constraint.

**Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce**

- For Saturday: Would make 3 Marketing experts, violating the constraint.
- For Sunday: Would ensure 4 entrepreneurs, meeting the requirement.

**Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles**

- For Saturday: Would ensure 4 entrepreneurs without violating any industry constraints.
- For Sunday: Would ensure 4 entrepreneurs without violating any industry constraints.

**Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality**

- For Saturday: Would not violate any constraints.
- For Sunday: Would not violate any constraints.

**Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce**

- For Saturday: Would make 3 Marketing experts, violating the constraint.
- For Sunday: Would not violate any constraints.

### Selections:

1. **Fifth Expert for Either Day:**

   - **Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles**
     - This choice ensures the required number of entrepreneurs and does not violate any industry constraints on either day.

2. **Fifth Expert for Neither Day:**

   - **Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports**
     - Adding Crowe would violate the constraint of having no more than 2 Finance experts on either day.

Thus, the selections are:

- **Fifth Expert for Either Day:** Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles
- **Fifth Expert for Neither Day:** Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports

First column: D;  Second Column: B
 Criteria:
1) the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance.
2) On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.
3) Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Saturday: Since there are already 3 entrepreneurs in the panel, Sat will have 4 entrepreneurs. So fifth person has to be an entrepreneur and not from e-commerce

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Fifth: Can be Taffe or Mulick
Sunday: Experts from Finance will not be in majority. Hence fifth person can't be from retail

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Neither Day: Crowe can be on neither days since from Finance and a faculty
Either Day: Choosing from Taffe or Mulick - Mulick is the right fit since Taffe is from finance and will not be suitable for Sunday.

Either day

For the "either day" column, we need to select an expert who can be the fifth expert on either Saturday or Sunday. The criteria are:
- Majority of interviews on one day are not from Finance. (This would be Saturday)
- At least four entrepreneurs on the other day. (This would be Sunday)
- No more than two experts from the same industry.

Let's consider the options:

- Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports
  - Fits as an entrepreneur (we need at least four entrepreneurs on one day).
  - Sports industry, different from existing industries (Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Education, Operations) on both days.

Therefore, Taffe could be the fifth expert on either day.

Neither day:

For the "neither day" column, we need to select an expert who cannot be the fifth expert on either Saturday or Sunday. The criteria are:
- Majority of interviews on one day are not from Finance. (This would be Saturday)
- At least four entrepreneurs on the other day. (This would be Sunday)
- No more than two experts from the same industry.

Let's consider the options:

- Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce
  - Not from Finance
  - Has an Ecom industry background

Therefore, Vandaley could be the fifth expert on neither day.

Either day: Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports
Neither day: Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce

These selections adhere to the constraints provided and fulfill the requirements for both columns.

Since one of the days will at least have 4 entrepreneurs, that day must be Saturday, Therefore, on Sunday, the majority of interviewees' area of expertise shouldn't be Finance. With additional condition Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

The fifth expert on either day should be and entrepreneur, not from Finance, and isn't from the E-commerce and Retail industry => Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles

The fifth expert on neither day shouldn't be an entrepreneur or from E-commerce and from finance or is from the Retail industry => Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports

Saturday must include 4 entrepreneurs, Sunday mustn't include a majority of Finance interviewee.

On Saturday the fifth interviewee can’t be from e-commerce and on Sunday it can’t be in the retail industry.

Therefore the fifth candidate that fits both days is:
Mulick because he is an entrepreneur and not from finance, e-commerce nor retail

The fifth candidate that doesn’t fit either days is:
Crowe because he is not an entrepreneur and he is from Finance

Experts' Global Explanation:

Since only two entrepreneurs are scheduled for Sunday, it is not possible to satisfy the condition of having at least four entrepreneurs on a Sunday. Thus, Saturday must have four entrepreneurs in the panel, and Sunday should have the majority of the experts who are not from Finance.

Additionally, since there cannot be more than two interviews with experts from the same industry, it follows that the selected expert for Saturday must not be from the E-Commerce industry, and the selected expert for Sunday must not be from the Retail Industry.

Thus, the experts who satisfy the given conditions for each day will have the following details:

Saturday: (Entrepreneur, ________, NOT E-Commerce)
Sunday: ( ________, NOT Finance, NOT Retail)
Among the provided options, Mulick is the only expert who could be the fifth expert on either day, and Crowe is the only expert who could NOT be the fifth expert on either day.

Hence, for “Either Day” column, “Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles”, and for “Neither Day” column, “Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports” is the correct combination of the answer choices.

Saturday: (Entrepreneur, ________, NOT E-Commerce)
Sunday: ( ________, NOT Finance, NOT Retail)

How would you satisfy this "Saturday must have four entrepreneurs in the panel, and Sunday should have the majority of the experts who are not from Finance." with the above predictions?

Saturday: (Entrepreneur, ________, NOT E-Commerce)
Sunday: ( ________, NOT Finance, NOT Retail)

Here on Sunday, the majority is already from Finance. If at least 4 entrepreneurs will be interviewed on Saturday, on Sunday Finance experts should not be the majority. How this constraint was solved with this solution?
To avoid that on Sunday, Garbo (Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality) should be interviewed so that there will be experts from 2 strategy and 2 finance which in this case the finance would not be the majority. If it is, Mulick is the only expert who could be the fifth expert on NOT either day but only SATURDAY.

Please explain why Taffee is not a choice for neither days? She is from Finance and both Sat and Sun already have 2 Finance speakers and hence there can't be anyone from Finance amongst the speaker cohort for either of the 2 days?

"The majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed."

From this, we can conclude that if there are at least four entrepreneurs on Saturday, then on the OTHER day, which is Sunday, finance experts cannot be the majority. But they can the majority on the SAME day, which is Saturday. So while they can be on the one of the days, they cannot be the choice for the "Neither days".

In alignment with the school’s pedagogy, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance. On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed. Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.

Four experts on each day have already been confirmed. The following schedule shows the experts’ details – profession, area of expertise, and industry.

Saturday

O’Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Sunday

Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing
Select an expert who could be the fifth expert on either day. Then select an expert who could be the fifth expert on neither day. Make only two selections, one in each column.

I think there is issue with question. So as per condition, the majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance, that means only one of the given days, ie saturday and sunday, will not have finance in majority, So adding finance on other day becomes mandatory cause if not added it will violate 'One of the' condition.

Thus arrangement should be as follows
Saturday: (Entrepreneur, Finance, NOT E-Commerce)
Sunday: ( ________, NOT Finance, NOT Retail)

To determine the fifth expert who could be included on either day and the one who could be included on neither day, we need to consider the constraints provided:

Neither day will have more than two interviews with experts from the same industry.
The majority of interviews on one of the days will not be from Finance.
On the other day, at least four entrepreneurs will be interviewed.

Analyzing the current schedule:
Saturday:
O'Reilly: Faculty, Finance, Fashion
Hoffman: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Epstein: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce
Jenson: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail

Currently: 2 from Marketing (E-commerce), 2 from Finance (Fashion and Retail)
3 Entrepreneurs, 1 Faculty
Constraints to note: Cannot have another expert from Marketing (E-commerce) or Finance (any industry)

Sunday:
Martinez: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Kahl: Entrepreneur, Finance, Retail
Wahba: Faculty, Strategy, Education
Emanuel: Faculty, Operations, Manufacturing

Currently: 2 from Finance (Retail), 1 from Strategy (Education), 1 from Operations (Manufacturing)
2 Entrepreneurs, 2 Faculty
Constraints to note: Cannot have another expert from Finance (any industry)

Considering potential candidates for "Either day":

Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports

Saturday: Another Finance expert is not possible (already 2).
Sunday: Another Finance expert is not possible (already 2).
Not a valid choice for either day.

Crowe: Faculty, Finance, Sports

Saturday: Another Finance expert is not possible (already 2).
Sunday: Another Finance expert is not possible (already 2).
Not a valid choice for either day.

Pyne: Entrepreneur, Marketing, E-commerce

Saturday: Another Marketing expert is not possible (already 2).
Sunday: Possible, as there is no conflict with existing subjects.
Valid for Sunday only.

Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles

Saturday: Valid as it does not add a third expert in any industry.
Sunday: Valid as it does not add a third expert in any industry.
Valid for either day.

Garbo: Faculty, Strategy, Hospitality

Saturday: Valid as it does not add a third expert in any industry.
Sunday: Valid as it does not add a third expert in any industry.
Valid for either day.

Vandaley: Faculty, Marketing, E-commerce

Saturday: Another Marketing expert is not possible (already 2).
Sunday: Possible, as there is no conflict with existing subjects.
Valid for Sunday only.

Selection:
Either day: Mulick: Entrepreneur, HR, Automobiles (valid for both days and does not violate constraints)
Neither day: Taffe: Entrepreneur, Finance, Sports (cannot be placed on either day due to Finance constraint)

Thus, the final selections are:
Either day: Mulick
Neither day: Taffe
