Two set approach can help solve this quickly
Let S be swimming and C be cardio machine
As per the question
Hence 5x + x = 180 i.e 6x = 180 i.e x = 30 Answer A

for everyone who met neither (x), 5 met swim only so 5x
total=both+C+S+N
420=160+80+5x+x
420=240+6x
420-240=6x
180=6x
180/6=6x/6
x=30

Needs to focus on the statement: For every member who met neither activity, 5 met swimming only.
Which means, is the total number of member who met neither is X, then 5x met only swimming and not cardio
so equation becomes: 420 = 160 + 80 + 5x + x --> x = 30
