First-time test taker here! The RC passages in the Official Practice exams seem quite a bit shorter than I expected(compared to the pre-Focus edition ones). Are the passages on the actual GMAT similar in length? Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has already taken it. Thanks

Yes mostly, but you might get 1 or 2 long one as well with 4 questions

Hi guys,

I'm in Week 3 right now, 5 LSAT RC sections behind my back. I have a question regarding this. I'm consistently scoring 88-90%+ (24/27, 25/27). Which is good. But it can take me up to 90 minutes to do so. Which is bad. What should I do about this? Any tactic/technique I should employ? Should I artificially set a time limit? What a good one would be? Thank you so much.

hi all, I needed some advice. I took the exam recently and got a 685, instead of constantly scoring above 705 in most official mocks (8 out of 12) and 745, 755 and 765 in the last 3 official mocks. I think I was primarily choked because of exam day anxiety and have now re-booked the exam for 10 days later. can someone suggest which mocks to take? I have exhausted all official ones and a decent amount of gmat club ones. I want to sharpen my DI skills better since that shook me a bit in the official exam...got an 81. do u think I should go for experts global?

also invite advice on how to best prepare in these 10 days. I am not super sure what’s the best way..

Hey Janvi, I've been exactly where you are. I went 675 → 645 → 665 before finally getting 715 on my fourth attempt, despite having a 695 mock avg(which was my goal) and 705-715 score 7 times. and all three of those first ones were nerves, not content.

Two things before the mock question.

Your DI 81 is the 88th percentile and your 685 is the 95th. Neither of those is a content problem. On my 715 attempt I walked out convinced I had bombed DI, I thought I'd guessed badly on 4-5 questions. It came back 86, the 99th percentile. How a section felt is the least reliable data you have.

And if you're hitting 745-765 on official mocks, more mocks won't teach you anything you don't already know. I'd skip Experts Global for this attempt. Not because they're bad, but because a new provider scores on its own calibration, and a surprise 690 five days out will cost you more confidence than the practice buys you. If you want DI reps, filter GMAT Club's DI questions to the exact subtopics that shook you and drill those instead.

What actually changed things for me was execution. In attempt 2 I refused to let go of question 2 in Quant, burned 8 minutes, and ran out of time for the last 11. In attempt 3 I over-corrected, rushed everything, and DI fell to 77. Anxiety pushes you into one of those two ditches, so the thing to rehearse is letting a question go at 2.5 minutes without it rattling you.

Roughly what I did in my final stretch:

Days 1-4: error log only, no new material
Days 5-7: only my own notes, I didn't touch pen and paper by this point
Days 8-9: nothing at all, I watched a movie at the theatre and meditated
Exam morning: 4 easy questions to warm up, then meditate again

Also lock your section order now and don't change it on the day. And if there's any commute stress, book a hotel near the centre. Mine was 50 metres away and that alone removed a whole category of panic.

Full writeup here if it helps: a-cyber-security-engineer-s-gmat-journey-456145.html

The score is already in you. 10 days is plenty to fix the delivery.

PS: If you still wanna take another mock go for another go at official mock right away NOW, and score will be inflated because of repeat questions but that’s fine.

Hi everyone! Under verbal, are BOLDFACE questions still relevant? I heard they might not be a part of the official tests soon
This does not cross to most.. but to master BOLDFACE leads to better CR and RC understanding in general. With the clarity of each sentence role is going to make inference RC questions and deducting CR crux that much easier.

I got this BOLDFACE type of question in all my 5 attempts. In my 715 attempt, it was the first question. :)

Guys, how do I get faster in Quant? I barely finish my quant section just in time, which leaves me no time to review my bookmarked questions as well leaving questions unsolved because I run out of time. And for some questions, I find I take almost 1.5 questions to even finish reading and understanding the questions. I have done a lot of practice for the QUANT section, but my time management and accuracy isn’t improving. Is there any way to combat this issue?

Hi, can someone help me decide between GMAT club mocks and expert global mocks? (Have exhausted official mocks)
My focus area currently is mostly DI, followed by verbal.
