Hello Rich,
Thank you for the prompt reply. In both the GMAT, my CR score accuracy was 70%, RC accuracy was 50-60% and SC was 15-25%.
1. I am preparing for GMAT for the last 3 months. ( I began serious preparation in Oct. )
2. I am preparing for GMAT from a local Indian institute material and also subscribed for Verbal
Magoosh, since I am aware of my poor verbal skills.
3. My goal score is 690-700. I am targeting Singapore colleges (NUS, NTU) and want to join 2016 class. What scores range will be enough to secure an admission here.
Also, help me with the colleges, I can apply to if I give my exam post 15th Jan (Since major colleges have R2 deadline by 15th Jan).
Regarding my preparation, I gave both the GMAT prep mocks ( 620, 650 scores Q49 in both), 800scores (600-670 scores) and kaplan test prep (660, 650, 670,680, 650). Based on these scores, I estimated my probable scores in the range of 650-700. In all these mocks Quant scores were in 48-50 range but verbal scores ranged from 24-37. I have also completed most of the
Magoosh verbal material and the predictable score is 29-36.
This big range of verbal scores is a big concern for me.
I did some analysis on the verbal scores and found that
SC:
1. 100% accuracy in 500-600 range questions.
2. 50% accuracy in 600-700 range questions.
3. 10-15% accuracy in 700+ range questions.
Here, the main topics of concern are: Modifiers, Idioms, Rhetorical Constructions.
I completed all the SC questions from GMAT club yesterday and found the same trend repeating.
CR:
1. 100% accuracy in 500-600 range questions.
2. 70% accuracy in 600-700 range questions.
3. 40-50% accuracy in 700+ range questions.
Here questions based on inference, boldface are a concern
RC
1. 100% accuracy in 500-600 range questions.
2. 60% accuracy in 600-700 range questions.
3. 30-40% accuracy in 700+ range questions.
The inference based question are a major concern. Also, when the passage are based on mythology, law, history etc, I tend to doze off and cant concentrate. (A typical Indian Engineer Syndrome)
Now, armed with all these analysis, I am not sure of how should I prepare since I have to join MBA institute in 2016.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Hi 1988achilles,
Were BOTH of your GMAT scores the same 600/Q49/V24 outcome? If that's the case, then that is a remarkably consistent performance and this score (600, give or take) might be your current level of ability. While the GMAT is a predictable, standardized Test (meaning that you CAN train to score at a higher level) it can often take time to learn/practice/master new Tactics and improve your scores. A mid-January Test Date would give you just 2-3 weeks of additional study time. Considering that you had to wait a little over 2 weeks between these two attempts at the GMAT, but your score results were the same, you would have to make some significant changes to how you handle the GMAT to raise your scores in such a short period of time.
1) How long have you been studying?
2) What materials have you been using?
3) What is your goal score?
4) Do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date?
