Guys i have been admitted to HKUST and Cass FT MBA Class of 2021.
Background-i am working with SBI Since 2013 experience of retail banking, retail credit. presently studying for my CFA, if things go as per the plan i might have cleared 2 levels of CFA.
Future Industry-Fintech/ Banking domain
Pros and Cons-
Cass-
1.)Virus-situation is very bad in the UK
2.)Job Market-No one can predict what will happen after brexit, and today UK govt has said that they will not seek an extension on brexit and in previous years a lot of Indian students had to come back to India because of not being able to secure job with visa sponsorship.
3.)Visa-uncertain visa regulations, although they have announced that 2 PSW will be given to all the students graduating in 2021.
HKUST-
1.) Language
2.) High fee-Hkust hasn't disclosed the amount of scholarship.
3.)virus and job market, i am yet to understand Job market of HK, but as per my initial understanding, it is highly competitive.
Primarily the thought of coming back to india after spending such a huge amount is scary for me.

Hi. Congrats on your admits!
HKUST is a strong program and fairly prestigious. One challenge however, it’s hard to recruit in Hong Kong without speaking Cantonese or at least mandarin. My understanding from a number of years ago is that most international students recruit outside of Hong Kong in places such as Singapore and rest of Asia. I would recommend connecting was one of the first or second year’s at the program to figure out the latest recruiting options.
One cool thing about the program is it’s a very strong exchange partners. All students go on one semester abroad exchange during the second year fall semester. The exchange programs are top 15 US business schools and a number of top five in the world with a few regional programs. There is a chance you may be able to recruit with students in those programs in the fall of your second year but that can be a bit tricky without an OPT. Again something I would check with current students.
Cass, I don’t really know much about it. I’m sorry. I know you mentioned the corona and at the moment we have to look past and assume that things will get better soon. I don’t know how to evaluate the impact.
