Ans: D
from the stem: c=3b

Stat 1) c+9 = 2(b+9)
so 3b+9=2b+18
b=9 (Suffi)

State 2) c-6=7(b-6)
so 3b-6 =7b-42
4b =36 ; b=9 (Suffi)

Ans D

(1) In nine years, Carl will be twice as old as Bea.

(2) Six years ago, Carl was 7 times as old as Bea.

Let age of Carl and Bea be C and B respectively.
Given C=3B
Now from 1: C+9= 2*(B+9)
We have two equations and two variables. We can derive the value. - Sufficient.

From 2: C-6 = 7*(B-6)
Again, We have two equations and two variables. We can derive the value. - Sufficient.

D is the answer.

Two Variables One equation given
C=3B

Statement 1= c+9=(3B+9)2
=> 2 variables and 2 equations . can solve. SUFFICIENT

Statement 2= c-6=7(B-6)
=> 2 variables and 2 equations . can solve. SUFFICIENT

Hence D.

Given:
C = 3 * B --> 1)

(1) In nine years, Carl will be twice as old as Bea.
C + 9 = 2 * ( B + 9 ) --> 2)
2 Variables, 2 equations
Sufficient

(2) Six years ago, Carl was 7 times as old as Bea.
C - 6 = 7 * ( B - 6 ) --> 3)
2 Variables, 2 equations
Sufficient

Hence, D.
