draw and you will see that A is the answer.
|x| + |y| = 32 is a square that connects (-32,0), (0,32), (32,0) and (0,-32) //notice it's symmetrical

1: y = -x/3 intersects the square in two points that are symmetrical in relationship to 0 -> xy is the same -> sufficient
2: butterfly-like: 4 solutions, xy is not the same because of the sign //for example (24,8) -> product is positive and (24,-8) -> product is negative

1) x=-3y

|x|=3|y|

4|y|=32 --> |y|=8
|x|=24

x and y have opposite signs.. so .. xy is same when (x is -ve and y +ve) or (x is positive and y is negative)

xy = -24*8

Sufficient

2) |x| – |y| = 16

|x| + |y| = 32

|x|=24 and |y|=8

x= -24 or +24 y= -8 or +8

xy = -24*8
or xy= 24*8

insufficient
