Hi all,

Could you please help me evaluate my profile for IIM PGPX? I'm looking to apply in Round 2.

Education-
Gmat score- 700
BTech Mechanical - CGPA 7.18 (COEP - College of Engineering Pune)
MBA (Finance) - CGPA 8 (Pune University MBA)
Post Graduate Diploma in Machine Learning - Great Lakes Institute of Management

Professional experience
I have ~10 years of experience.
2 years in Infosys as a Software engineer
6 years in Transaction Advisory for Investment Banking M&A in Automotive, Industrial and Consumer sectors
1.5 years in Fintech company providing Fixed income pricing using AIML

I have set up offshore teams in India for US based start-up. Worked closely with investment bankers in UK and US offices.
Experience of working as M&A analyst on $8bn sell-side deal


I have been thinking about MBA for a while now but kept procastinating thinking my profile isn't good enough. But I would like to get some feedback/ honest opinion from experienced candidates.

The shortlist happens before submission of essays, and the deadline for submission of essays 5 days after that?

So are they going to publish the essay topics on the day of shortlist?

Hi Uday,

Based on the limited information I can see here, you have a strong profile. Your GMAT score is also on-par with the class average, why don’t you develop a strong application and essays and apply in R1?

What will be important is how you describe your life story and link these separate points. Also, a lot of thought and clarity is necessary on why you need another MBA degree.

Your profile is good. Your GMAT is fine. But there are few elements which need to be looked at in details. Your work experience seems diverse but a coherent career story is not apparent. Again you will have to answer why a second MBA now.

Plus, what is the reason that you want to go for round 2? You already have all the ammo ready for the application?

Yes, attended a webinar. The placements are student driver and administration supported. They invite companies based on student profiles and requirements. In case you have a specific company in mind, you’ll have to inform the placement com and they’ll try to get that company for you

Hey

No one can answer that objectively. Generally 50% of the class is selected in round one and then remaining in round two. Profiles selected in round one may have a bearing on adcoms decisions in round two. There is no clear answer to this. But in my opinion it helps if you apply in round one as class constitution starts shaping up in this round.

You can apply with unofficial scores and inform adcom about the same
