Interesting choice of schools. I think we only had one of the person who was in the same boat years ago…. But it all comes down to your priorities for where you want to be. Obviously going to kill it, you’re going to have higher costs but they also get access to higher paying jobs. With Kellogg you get access to live in the US and potentially stay there. You also get to Have higher costs and more risk and visa hassle and other hassles, learning a new culture, renting an apartment and going through all these experiences. If you don’t care to be in the United States, then what’s the point of investing all that effort even if Kellogg is a top-five school in the world.

Hi I was a similar situation (+ covid) couple of years back and decided to go for the US school foregoing the deposit paid for the other Indian school. I agree the financial burden is overwhelming, however Kellogg will offer great opportunities in Consulting and the ROI thereafter would make up for everything.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Congratulations and Good luck!

Thanks,
Mayank

I got interviewed for Kellogg yesterday. Already have an admit from ISB. Kellogg results will be out on 28th but I have to submit the ISB fee before 27th March. That's one.
Even if I get an invite from Kellogg, I am unable to decide whether to go to US with a huge debt if I don't get enough scholarship, especially given the current economic scenario with interest rates being so high.

Ok, so I will help you somewhat since I was in similar position few weeks back.

1. Regarding the decision thing, you can contact Kellogg and ask them to expedite your decision to 26th. I know there was a link to expedite decision in R1 and must be same for R2. (I know few people who got decision early this way). If not mail them, they are very responsive.

2. Scholarship as Indian male at M7 is always tricky, unless you get another competing scholarship offer from T10, Scholarship at Kellogg would be moonshot.

3. Kellogg give NU LOAN at around 4.5% interest rate for about $200k for 2Y with estimated post MBA income around $150k. For ISB you will have to take loan at around 12% for $55000 FOR 1Y with estimated post MBA income around $30000. While there is obviously a 150k disparity in cost, I am banking on better post MBA returns to close this gap fast.

I hope to stay abroad atleast till loan covers so its that. Also I am bachelor so dont have other people to look after. So I decided to take that risk.

Hope it helps you.

Go to Kellogg. You only do a top MBA once in your lifetime. Do it from the better school and don't worry about money too much. You are young and have plenty of time in your life to repay your debt..

Just my $0.02
