New Shorter Test Version of GMAT Prep Software is coming on April 27 30
GMAC has announced earlier this week that the new GMAT Prep Practice Exams will
be available on April 27. However, as a few people
pointed out, it leaves a few holes and speculations until the software comes out. The new software will be available here:

1. Will the new version contain any questions?A: Unlikely but maybe. GMAT prep has not received new questions basically ever.... and the only new questions available has been added as either Exam Packs or Question Packs
2. Will it overwrite the existing history or preserve it?A: Imagine you took 1 out of 2 free GMAT Prep tests and you upgrade your software - will it overwrite and zero out all history or will it preserve it and allow to take test 2? My take it that it will most likely overwrite the files and tests will be reset (that is my guess based on how rushed this update/conversion was). I hope that GMAT does not do it, but looking at the effort it would require and how short on time they are, most likely GMAC will make the upgrade wipe out history. We'll see if I am wrong
3. Should You Upgrade the GMAT Prep Software?A: If you have not taken any tests, then yes, definitely. If you have taken 1 out of 2, then you may want to hold off and see what the answer to #2 is
4. Any other changes?A: Yes, there will be a new online version of the GMAT prep that you will take online and also online versions of GMAT Exam Packs and Question Packs. It is not clear when they will be available but we know GMAC has been beta-testing these a while ago, so it is possible there will be additional announcements (this is one of the reasons there is now a time limit on the Exam Pack and Question Pack subscriptions).
