A, B, and E are sentence fragments. D has a mix up of meaning, because the subject is the canadian provinces

Sorry E is not a sentence fragment but it just makes zero sense. Remove the modifier and read the sentence

Remove all the modifiers you can.

In whole Sentence Underline there should be major structure differences between the choices.

But if I remove the modifiers in the above sentence then I will be mostly left with nouns only

I don’t have a silver bullet recommendation. Complete sentence underlines are harder just because you have to digest the entire sentence and spot mistakes. Reading a lot of hard long sentences infection helped me to train my ear to catch things that sound unnatural. She seems to be the best option for me as well 🤷‍♂️

C not she 🤦‍♂️

Compare that to C, which is logical without modifiers:
The US state of Maine shares land borders with two Canadian provinces but is adjacent to only one other state.

No I didn’t honestly

I went about reading 5 answer choices, but not digesting or comprehending anything which was time consuming and confidence shattering as well

ok. It’s OK to Make mistakes by the way and it’s totally fine to accept them and to be honest about it. That’s what all the smart people do they want to learn from their mistakes.

Sharing land borders with two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, and adjacent to only one other state, New Hampshire, is the US state of Maine, in the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States. A. Sharing land borders with two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, and adjacent to only one other state, New Hampshire, is the US state of Maine, in the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States B. In the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States, the US state of Maine, sharing land borders with two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, and is only adjacent to one other state, New Hampshire C. The US state of Maine, in the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States, shares land borders with two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, but is adjacent to only one other state, New Hampshire D. Two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, share a border with the US state of Maine in the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States, and one state, New Hampshire, is only adjacent to it E. Only the US state of New Hampshire is adjacent to Maine, which shares a border with two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick, in the extreme northeast corner of the continental United States
The mistake in the original sentence is that the introductory clause has to be followed by a noun or either the subject of the sentence but it was followed by additional extra information…. The subject is not New Brunswick. The subject is Maine. That should’ve followed the introductory clause. The original sentence is already very dirty with three layers of modifying clauses but to make it very clear and to show that there is a clear final nail on the coffin, it puts “is the US state of Maine” So you get a verb instead of a subject. This is the template and the structure of these types of sentences. They should have the subject after the introductory clause however long that may be.

these are often tested with “Having……” or “Being….” Though being is always suspect
