Is there a hope for an interview anymore ? R2 Applicant.

28th is the final decision date and I am wondering if they will be inviting anyone for an interview on such a short notice.

I guess there is.. One of my friends who applied in Round 1 was invited and interviewed in the last week!..

Really anxious, Round 2 becomes even more competitive for international applicants like me!! .. one more week!

All the best buddy... Its really anxious week ahead...

Regards,
Chetan

Just had an interview with Katie, such a nice and pretty woman. Last time, my internet was really bad so they let me do my interview again today (what a great surprise).

She told me I can expect my call on Friday. :)

Rice MBA for Professionals-
Weekend Program
Incoming Class of 2016

I will be starting my Rice MBA for Professionals program in a few months!  I am part of the soon-to-be Class of 2016.  I sent in my application in November, 2013 and was notified of my acceptance in December, 2013.  I paid my deposit in early January, 2014 and here I am, waiting to start my MBA classes this August, 2014!

For those of you out there who are thinking about pursuing your Rice MBA, here are some thoughts from someone who has just gone through this process:

How did I come to choose Rice?
Four things come to mind:

1)  ELECTIVES.  I love the fact that, in the second year, I can tailor my education to things that I want to learn about and that will have a real impact on my long term career goals.

2) CAMPUS.  The campus atmosphere was important to me.  It provides a place where my wife and new born child can get involved in my education and where we can go through this journey as a team.  I figured I was going to be keeping a lot of late nights in an MBA program, so might as well do it somewhere that is comfortable.

3) SALARY INCREASE.  There were two rankings that stood out to me: one, there is an average of 25% salary increase from the start of the Rice MBA program to when students leave the program in 22 months, which simply is remarkable; two, nationally, the Jones School MBA program ranked No. 1 for salary percentage increase among graduates three years out.  I feel that I am making a good and solid investment in the right program.

4) ALUMNI NETWORK.  The quality of the alumni network, not just quantity, was a huge deal to me.  All throughout my information gathering process of the various business school options, literally everyone I talked to from Rice was willing to go above and beyond with their time to help me figure out what the right choice for ME was.  These people included the current students, the various alumni that I met at the admissions events, the professors, the admissions staff, and the faculty.  That investment in me as a prospective student showed me that there is an amazing, honest culture to this unique place, and I can’t wait to leverage the alumni base and make the connections that I need to help me along with my career.

My advice to you if you’re looking at the Rice MBA program:
Attend the admissions events.  I went to the Lunch and Learn.  I did a Class Visit.  I registered for Admissions 101 to get help with putting together my application.  I also met with many students and faculty outside of the scheduled recruiting events.  This was really important.  Find ways for people to give you time outside of the huge admissions settings.  Those admissions events are extremely valuable, particularly attending a class, but I found that it was the extra effort to really put myself out there in front of the students and admissions staff that differentiated me and let the admissions team know that I am committed.

Best of luck to you as go through the application process.  Hopefully, I’ll get to know some of you as future classmates of mine this fall!
