Hey GmatClub! I'm super happy to have received offers from both Kellogg and Haas this past week :-D, however I'm really torn between the two! They're both amazing overall and especially strong in social impact / social sector leadership, my main area of focus in the MBA. I was hoping you guys could help me think through the most important decision points.

Context.
- International student and will take loans to finance the MBA
- Currently working in management consulting and don't plan on switching employers
- Want to focus academics of MBA in social impact / social sector leadership
- Plan on interning in non-profits and social enterprises
- Travelling to b-school with my wife, who will either study or look for a job in the Education sector
- I feel strongly attached to both b-schools' values/philosophies

I'm thinking Kellogg has a greater inclusion of SO's into the MBA experience (sitting in classes, greater community, etc) and slightly lower living costs (is this right?), besides being ranked slightly higher than Haas. On the other hand, Haas has a smaller class size (making the experience more intimate) and - well, it's in the Bay Area.

I'm unsure what are the differences between both schools in terms of academics in the social impact area and opportunities for internships. Also, not sure which one is better for my wife in terms of opportunities for study or work. What do you guys think?

Thank you!

Kellogg hands down! I am also social impact focused and just got my kellogg acceptance (yay!) so I’m biased but from my perspective Kellogg gives much broader opportunities. Haas is very tech focused while Kellogg is a bit more balanced.

Also to the point on opportunities for your wife, I think Kellogg is better. Chicago is going to have many more education and nonprofit opportunities as well as much lower cost of living.
