I had my interview yesterday on-campus. It was an unseasonably cold weekend in Chapel Hill (they are expecting snow this week!). My interview was with
John Hughes. John was really friendly and put me at ease right away. I think it helps that these interviews are not supposed to be stress interviews. The questions asked were:
1. Tell me where in India did you grow up.
2. Why did you select your Engg specialization (I am a Production Engineer)
3. If you had a chance to go back and complete your education again, would you select the same school?
4. Tell me about your extra curricular involvement and if you have any leadership experience in those in school or college?
5. How did you get your first job? (I chose not to join the IT company I was recruited to)
6. Tell me about your growth in the current company.
7. What would your manager say - your strengths were? your weakness?
8. Short term goal and long term goal. Any specific companies that you would like to join after MBA?
9. Why KFBS?
10. Some conversation around my pro bono consulting work.
Also, I have a low GMAT score - was asked what I am doing to change that? John did not have access to my GMAT score but he asked if I was happy with it and I told him I was not. He did recommend that anyone not within the median scores for KFBS should try to get in that range and if you are in the range, try to be in the middle rather than the lower end. He also said that GMAT
does not help differentiate people who have a standard good profile. **Disclaimer**
