Folks, allow me to drop the bomb and claim a record - my interview is planned to last "about 3 hours".

I've heard that LBS interviews can last between 1-3 hours, but was glad mine only took 1.5 since he had to go. Did your interviewer ask you to set aside 3 hours? That's going to be a rigorous one. Good luck!

I completely missed that bit of the email hehe
Signing up now it showed: 168 attending, 21 not attending.

We can assume the number of people invited to the interview be 189. If it is true that 1/3 of the entire class (417) is selected in R1, that would be 139 people possibly accepted, which leads to an acceptance rate of 73.5%.

I thought this calc would make me more confident but it does not... hope it helps someone to be more relaxed.

Perfect! That's the kind of data I was aiming for
I'm estimating:
2500 applicants (20% or 500 in R1)
2/5 going to interview (200)
30% acceptance rate in the round with 75% yield (above Columbia but below S/H) would be 150 offered a place and 112 accepting (27% of the class).

Cheers,

Then, maybe, the english testing invitation is indeed based on the TOEFL score. I got an invitation and my score was 107.

I haven't done it yet, because I am traveling today to do my interview on monday. I am planning to do the test on tuesday.

Just throwing a number out there. Cutoff point might be 110 or thereabouts.

That would still be a very high cutoff point.

Let's see if we get a couple of more datapoints to validate our hypothesis.

Harvard's minimum is 110, so I think it makes sense...
I took the IELTS... so I can't provide data on the TOEFL...

I replied to the event thrice and the count went up each time... that number might not be that high... However, even an interview to selection percentage of 73.5% looks high albeit comforting

The 73.5% is in reference to the percentage that accept going to LBS given an offer by the school. However, I agree the offer would still be even higher (3 out of 4 selected for interview). They could have held 300 interviews in which case the yield would be closer to 60% (with a higher number of applicants). I think chances are above 0.5 for receiving an offer given an interview in R1.

I always use Harvard number as a reference for chances of being admitted considered you have been interviewed by any school: 50%. However, I am aware that schools such as Columbia with its rolling admission might have higher percentage of interview/admitted.

I have zero clue if it is plausible or not, but it is a number that boosts my confidence and at the same time does not let me be overconfident walking to the interview.
