PROFILE EVALUATION, please?

Hey marckp,
You have a pretty great profile,
Academically, you have a good GPA, which showcases your academic prowess and the brand of your undergraduate college is good as well. However, while your grades and brand do play an important part, you should highlight your extracurricular activities and other endeavours because AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles
Coming to your international experiences, the dual degree program in Germany is a great addition to your application as it showcases your adaptability. Moreover, ensure you highlight what kind of learnings you derived and how it helped you to grow and develop a broader perspective.

For your extracurricular activities, you have a lot of achievements and varied roles, your winnings in rowing and acting as the trainer showcase leadership, team spirit, and other such skills. Highlighting the accolades you won here and how this has influenced your life would help make present a strong application.
I’d like to let you know that Extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Thus, it is essential to shedding light on the endeavors you’ve taken up at the clubs, associations, fest, and events you managed or participated in during your undergrad. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile.

As far as your work experience goes, Your entrepreneurial venture is a great addition to the profile as it showcases your ability to take initiatives and create impacts. Talk about the business, what it is about, how you started it and how you have managed and grown it. You ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your finance skills and knowledge. Since you do not have big brands in your profile, highlighting how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created, establishing a connection with your goals and portraying the knowledge gained from these experiences would help you make your profile better.

Apart from this, you could take up certifications like CFA and FRM to showcase your passion for the field of finance. Moreover, getting an internship at one of the big financial firms would strengthen your profile further. Since most of the competition you face would have relevant experience in the field of finance from big brand firms, these certifications and internships would bring you at par with them.

As far as the GMAT goes, a score of 700 and above with 50 or more in the Quant section, would allow you to target the finance programs in top schools. You should definitely aim to score as high as you can since a strong GMAT score would bolster the AdComs confidence in your academic abilities and improve your acceptance chances.

All the schools you are targeting LSE comes under the dream category while Imperial and Warwick fall under the competitive category. Dream schools have a very stringent acceptance rate of 12-15%. Hence, it is always better to target a mix of dream, competitive and safe schools. Looking at your profile you have a 50% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the dream category and a 70% chance of getting admitted in the schools in the competitive category.

Apart from your targeted list LBS, UCL, Cass and Kings are some other schools in the Competitive category that you can target.

While you have a competitive profile, to increase your chances of getting admitted at these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application (consisting of - Essays, LORs and Resume) to back your profile. You need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers and how you are a great value addition to the school. A strong application increases your chances of acceptance by up to 30%.

Applying during Round 1 would further increase your chance of securing an admit and allow you to secure scholarships too. That said, you should start preparing your applications to these schools in parallel since round one deadlines are just around the corner and each application takes 10-15 days to be perfected. On this note, if you are looking to target the top B-schools and want to prepare a strong application to meet the upcoming deadlines right on time, you can check our comprehensive all in one solution that has helped thousands of applicants get into their dream schools including schools like HEC, LSE and LBS!

Hey cansulus,
You have a pretty unique profile

Academically your undergraduate program in Philosophy is unique and coupled with your nationality it will help differentiate you from the crowd. Most B-schools are looking to add diversity to their cohort and your background gives you a unique perspective which definitely provides a value addition to their program. However, your GPA is slightly on the lower end, but posing the right alibi for the same would allow you to overcome this drawback in your profile. While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavours matter as well because AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles.

As far as the GMAT goes, an overall score of 690 and above, would allow you to target the MSc programs at most of the top B-schools. You should definitely aim to score as high as you can since a strong GMAT score would bolster the AdComs confidence in your academic abilities and improve your acceptance chances.

As you have not mentioned any details about your extracurricular activities, I’d like to let you know that Extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours you have taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest or events you managed or participated in during your undergrad. Volunteering initiatives, certifications or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile or seek to build in this area if the need be.

As far as your internship experience goes, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would allow you to stand at par with candidates with more extensive work experience hailing from big 4 brands. That said, connecting your work experience and your decision to pursue a masters is very important.

Coming to your IELTS, while a score of 7.5 is great, one thing to keep in mind is that most B-schools do offer a waiver for it since it is an English proficiency test, so you might want to look into that as well.

Overall you have a pretty decent profile and you can be targeting several programs at the top schools. As for the schools you need to be targeting, one thing that I would like to address is that whenever you are applying to schools abroad, it is always better to target a mix of dream, competitive, and safe schools. To help you understand better, I’ve suggested a few schools that you could be targeting according to the different categories.

DREAM: HEC, INSEAD, LBS, LSE

Competitive: EDHEC, ESSEC, ESCP, FSFM, IE, ESADE

Safe: Grenoble, Skema

Looking at your profile you have a 50% chance of getting into the dream category, 60% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the Competitive category and an 80% chance of getting admitted in the schools in the safe category. To increase your chances of getting admitted at these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application consisting of well-drafted Essays, LORs and resume to back your profile. You need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers and how you are a great value addition to the school.

Further, if you need a more in-depth profile evaluation for a thorough understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, ways to build your profile further and a more comprehensive and personalized list of target schools you can email us your resume at info@mim-essay.com and further you can also check out this free profile evaluation tool for same :

Nationality / Age: Cypriot (Cyprus), 23

GMAT/GRE Score: GRE 310 (153 Verbal, 157 Quant)

GPA / Work experience: 3.48/4 GPA,
I had 4 internships; Market Research intern in a local business in Cyprus, Global Trade Department intern in EY Istanbul office, Brand Management Intern in British American Tobacco Istanbul office and Analyst Intern in a boutique investment firm in Istanbul.

Educational Background: Went to an English Highschool in Cyprus, then to a top Uni in Turkey (considered to be the best in many areas). BA in International Trade (very similar to international business). I also did an exchange at INSEEC Business school in Paris for 1 semester. I know a bit of French, too.
I am an ex-National Basketball Team player for my country and an organizer at the Erasmus club of the school. I also won 2 consulting case competitions at my university that was hosted by big brands such as AT Kearney.

Master program(s) you are applying to?: I want to pursue an MSc related to business/data analytics, my target schools are mainly ESSEC, HEC and Bocconi.

Post-MS Targets: I want to get into either consulting or work in tech companies as a business analyst in Europe.

I believe I have a decent profile with strong internships. I have other good extracurriculars that I did not list here and I believe my GPA is competitive. I also have great recommendations from reputable academicians and my manager. However, I heavily underperformed on my GRE test (had a delay of 2 hours on exam day due to technical problems and then had to wear a mask for 4 hours during the exam which effected me quite badly), which is my main concern with my application. I want to apply on the first round for these schools, however, I know that this GRE score lowers my chances significantly. I would love to hear any recommendations and tips. Thank you!

Master program(s) you are applying to?: TBD on 2nd GMAT, but looking at: Kellogg, Berkeley, Ross, Darden, Fuqua, McCombs
Post-MS Targets: Tech PM
Hey nshardlow,

Starting off with the strong points in your profile, your GPA of 3.4 is pretty impressive as it showcases your strong academic abilities.
Moving on, since you have not mentioned any details about your extracurricular activities, I’d like to let you know that extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles.

Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours you have taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest or events you managed or participated in during your undergraduate. Volunteering initiatives, certifications or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile or seek to build in this area if the need be.

Coming to your GMAT score, 690 is pretty decent as it does make you eligible for the top B-schools. Although you have said you want to go for a retake; I would suggest that you should go with 690 itself as it would allow you to target the Round 1 deadlines that closes by the end of October for most of the schools. The reason why R1 is preferred is because the candidate has a higher chance of getting accepted and bagging scholarships as well. Also, Moreover, your GMAT/GRE score holds only a 15-20% of an impact on your chances of getting accepted.

As far as your work experience is concerned, 6 years is an extensive time to have worked on numerous projects. But since you don’t hold any experience from Big 4 firms, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would allow you to stand at par with candidates with work experiences from Big 4 firms.

Looking at the school choices, Berkeley, Kellogg and Ross come under the competitive category, Darden, Fuqua, and McCombs can be clubbed under the dream category. That said, your chances of getting into the dream schools is 50% and for competitive schools it’s around 60-70%.
Lastly, to compliment your profile you need to begin prepping for a strong application that includes essays, letter of recommendation, statement of purpose, and resume that highlights all your strong suits, gives reasoning for the weaknesses, and displays how you’d be a good addition to the cohort.

On this note, you can check our flagship service- All-In-One Solution to see how we could assist you in preparing a polished application and highlighting your strengths so that you can boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x at these schools!

Educational Background: have been studying in UK since 12 years old. UG at UK Top 20, and MSc at UK Top 10. Wish to relocate in UK permanently and work in ibd
Master program(s) you are applying to?: MFin
Post-MS Targets: Cambridge MFin, Oxford MFE, HEC MIF, LBS MFin, LSE MFin

Hi Edward19434,

Your profile looks quite decent.

Let me start off with the strong suits in your profile. Your GMAT score of 700 works in your favour showcasing your academic prowess. However, since you are targeting Masters in Finance, make sure that you have a 49 or above Quant score as top-B schools tend to favour the same as it acts as proof of your abilities to succeed in the field of finance.

Coming to your academic scores, 64% is a bit on the lower end but since you have done your undergraduate program from the Top 20 UK and post-graduation from the Top 10 UK, this can work as an advantage. The reason being, popular B-schools often shortlist students from top-ranked universities from each country. However, to confirm your eligibility I recommend you to check through schools’ websites as UK schools generally are pretty stringent when it comes to the GPA requirements and require a minimum of 7/10.

Moreover, the business schools look for well-rounded candidates, so for that, you need to showcase all the extra-curricular activities done by you so far. Herein, you can dig deep into the kind of CSR activities you have done. I also recommend you to take up certifications related to finance like CFA, FRM if you haven’t already. You can also take up leadership roles by associating with NGOs and voluntary organizations where you can lead projects and create a substantial impact.

Speaking of your work experience, 3 years is good enough for anyone willing to pursue Masters in Finance. 2 years at a Big 4 firm as a Deal Advisory and 1 year at a startup as a Corporate Finance Analyst showcases your relevant experience in the field of finance. To boost your profile further, you can mention the kind of projects you have worked upon, impacts created, approaches used, skills acquired as well as the knowledge gained during this period.

Going on with your school preferences, Oxford, Cambridge, and HEC come under the dream category. Although your GMAT score is good, these schools prefer candidates with 710+ scores, which is why a retake is what I would recommend if you are keen on applying to this set of schools. Apart from this, LBS and LSE, though clubbed under the dream category are attainable with a GMAT score of 700.

Speaking of your chances of getting into either of these schools, in my opinion you have around 40-50% chances of getting admitted as they all have a stringent acceptance rate of 12-15%.

Further, I’d suggest you also look for competitive and safe schools in order to hedge your bets wisely.
That said, here are a few schools you can consider:
COMPETITIVE: University College London, University of Warwick, Durham, UCL
Safe: EDHEC, IESE

Another thing I’d like to emphasize here is the importance of admission applications. Applications hold 30% weightage in the admission process. Application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills caliber and your personality. But simultaneously, it is also the way through which you can highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, a strong application sets you apart from the rest of the competition.

Lastly, since the major chances of your admission depend on the quality of your application and the first round of admissions are just round the corner, you might be seeking professional help to secure your spot in your target schools. You can thus check our, All-in-One Solution to gain insights into how we can assist in creating a strong application that can increase the impact of your application by a minimum of 3 times!

Hey Monzi96,

You seem ambitious about pursuing a career in finance - This is reflected in the effort you have put in your graduate degree and work experience. If this aspect is portrayed properly in your application, schools will be interested in this.

As far as the profile is concerned, your undergraduation in business administration, supplemented by your masters in banking and finance are great value additions and work in your favor, since for the MFin programs top B-schools tend to pick applicants possessing relevant knowledge in the field of finance. Moreover, your GPA both during your undergrad and your masters is pretty impressive, which showcases your academic prowess. While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavors matter as well be-cause AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles.

As for your extracurricular activities, your participation in the university’s finance association showcases your strong interest in finance and how you have been taking that forward. Though, to be clear, B-schools are looking for applicants that are future leaders and have experiences in volunteering activities or social initiatives. Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours you have taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest or events you managed or participated in during the course of the program. Volunteering initiatives, certifications or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile or seek to build in this area if the need be. Furthermore, to improve your profile, you could get involved in CSR activities to bolster your extracurriculars and build a holistic profile.

As far as your work experience is concerned, you have a big brand on your CV as well as extensive experience in the field of finance in varied roles which definitely acts in your favour, since MS in Finance is a specialized masters and AdComs, as mentioned earlier, are looking for applicants with relevant experience in the field of finance. Do note that you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. To further strengthen your application and differentiate you from your peers highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences.

As for your GMAT, you’ve definitely bagged a competitive score that could allow you to target all top B-schools. I would like to remind you that for finance courses Quant is one of the main referencing points so a score of 49 and above in the quant would increase your chances at the top business schools. However, if you do not have such a high quant score you could make up for it by properly highlighting the internships and the extracurricular related to finance during the course of your studies. Do keep in mind that it is imperative to highlight your passion for the field of finance.

Coming to your letters of recommendation, while you have really strong recommenders, one of the most important things to keep in mind is that the recommender should know you personally and have worked or observed your work closely so that they can properly highlight your strengths and back these strengths with appropriate situations/examples to create a very strong LOR.

Coming to shortlisting the right schools for your profile, whenever you are applying to schools abroad, it is always better to target a mix of dream, competitive, and safe schools. That said, from the schools, you’re targeting I would like to define your chances of acceptance as per 2 categories:

Dream (40-50%): LSE, LBS, HEC
Competitive (60-70%): ESSEC

Additionally, here are a few more schools that you can consider:

Dream (40-50%) : Imperial, Vanderbilt, Duke
Competitive (60-70%) : ESCP, ESADE, FSFM, IE
Safe (80-90%) :, Grenoble, Skema, EDHEC

To summarize, while you have a competitive profile, you need to be aware that you will face competition from applicants having similar or maybe even better profiles, thus, to increase your chances of getting admitted to these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application (consisting of - Essays, LORs and Resume) to back your profile. You need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers and how you are a great value addition to the school and as a matter of fact, a strong application increases your chances of acceptance by up to 30%.

On this note, if you are looking to target the top B-schools and want to prepare a strong application to meet the upcoming deadlines right on time, you can check our comprehensive all in one solution that has helped thousands of applicants get into their dream schools including schools like HEC, LSE and LBS!

Hey vigneshvnair,

First and foremost, you have a very good profile with room for minor improvements here and there. When looking at your potential CGPA of 4.0 from a British university and IELTS iBT score of 118/120, it definitely showcases your language proficiency and overall stronghold in the academic front. Furthermore, you are aiming for a 720-750 in your GMAT which is exactly what you should be targeting since higher the score, the wider options you’d have and higher would be your chances of acceptance in the top-notch B-schools.

Speaking about your extracurricular activities which hold equal importance since schools are looking for a holistically developed profile, you haven’t really given any major details except for a vague mention of participating in athletic and other field events. However, you have mentioned tutoring business and psychology students for a period of 2 years which definitely works in your favour as it showcases how you are an ardent propagator of spreading knowledge and learnings proactively. Moreover, you can dig deeper into your endeavours by highlighting how you went above and beyond to excel and how you will be a great value addition to the school by talking about the projects that you were part of, the exposure you had there, the major takeaways and how you added value or contributed to these endeavours.

Apart from this, you have also mentioned that you are planning on taking a CFA level 1 exam which you can surely utilize in your additional essay to showcase your thirst for knowledge and passion towards the finance field.

Most importantly, talking about your work experience, you haven’t mentioned any internships or full-time jobs of any kind. So what I can suggest is that you can take up relevant internships in the field of finance from reputed companies since it will set you at par with your competitors who are mostly going to have work experience from Big 4 companies. Also, given the fact that you will be applying for the round 2 of applications(january) which further provides you with ample time to build up your work profile. Following these experiences, you can later incorporate details highlighting why you chose these companies, the kind of projects you handled, the value you added to these projects, how you built on your finance skills and the major takeaways you were able to gain from the same.

Talking about the schools you are targeting, LSE and OXFORD come under the dream category ( where your chance of acceptance are 50%) and DESAUTELS MMF, SSE, RSM, NOVA and FRANKFURT can be clubbed under the competitive category ( where your chance of acceptance are 70%). You can further widen your options by looking at schools such as HEC, INSEAD and DUKE under the dream category schools.

All in all, while you have a competitive profile, you need to pay extra attention to your application which consists of your Essay, Lor and Resume as they carry 30% of an impact on your chances of bagging an admit. Having said that, since you haven’t really given any significant details regarding your extracurriculars and professional experiences, we suggest you to Book a Free consulting session with one of our consultants who will help you plan a winning strategy to overcome the particular weaknesses in your profile through tried and tested methods that have helped over hundreds of similar applicants win an admit from the top-ranked B-schools worldwide!

Thank you!

Hey teren97,

Your overall profile looks pretty decent. To start off with the strong suits in your profile, your GPA of 3.48/4 in undergraduate is impressive and showcases your academic prowess. You have also mentioned that you did an exchange program at INSEEC Business School in Paris for 1 semester, this vouches for your international exposure, which most B-schools prefer as it could help bring to the table a varied perspective and the ability to adapt.

Another significant aspect that schools focus on is extracurricular activities as they are looking for a comprehensive profile.
Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest, or events you managed or participated in during your undergraduate. Volunteering initiatives, certifications, or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Herein, you have mentioned that you have been a National Basketball player and you have also won 2 consulting case competitions at your university which was hosted by big brands which shows your versatility and the proactive nature you possess. Further, you have also mentioned that you were an organizer at the Erasmus club of the school.
While this sounds impressive, make sure to focus more on the extra-curricular activities you did while in graduation as B-schools are more interested in recent endeavors. However, if you still want to mention the school activities, you can talk about the traits you have garnered through these activities. All in all, you have diverse activities in your profile. These are the very traits that define a great leader and would most certainly help in conveying why you are a good candidate for the school.

Coming to your professional front, you have a good number of varied internships. Since all are from the big brands, it is an added bonus. Additionally, your international experience of interning in Istanbul twice, showcases your adaptability and broadened perspective which is highly valued by the B-schools.You ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these internships, what are the projects done so far, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took, and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals, and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Explaining all this well can be a differentiator for you, and help you stand out in a crowd.

Heading to your GRE score, 310 is a bit on the lower end for the elite schools you are targeting, as ESSEC, Bocconi require at least 320 whereas for HEC, you require 322+. So, a retake is what I recommend. You should aim for at least a minimum of 320 score to be eligible for these schools. That said, practice is key to achieving perfection. I would suggest taking as many mocks as possible and attempting all sections collectively to get a fair idea of where you need to buckle up.

The schools that you are targeting, given the fact that you retake the GMAT and land a score of 320+ HEC would come under the dream category with 50% chance of acceptance whereas ESSEC and Bocconi could be clubbed under the competitive category with 60-70% chance of acceptance.
That said, here are a few additional schools you can consider:

DREAM: LBS, UT Austin, Carlson, Duke MQM
COMPETITIVE: ESCP, WHU, ESADE, IE

Lastly, while you have a good profile, you need to be aware that you will be facing competition from equally good or even better profiles, which is why, you need to complement your profile with a strong application that includes essays, letter of recommendation, statement of purpose, and resume that highlights all your strong suits, gives reasoning for the weaknesses, and displays how you’d be a good addition to the cohort. As a matter of fact, your application can boost your chances of acceptance by 3x!

To conclude, in case you want to get more insights into the B-schools that will be compatible with, given your profile and requirements, as well as to get a more personalized profile evaluation where you can receive expert suggestions on how to upgrade your current profile, you can take our FREE Profile Evaluation service, the link of which is added below.

Hey historyfan10,

To start off with the strong suits of your profile, your GPA of 3.8 is very impressive and showcases your academic prowess. Also, you have a unique academic background that will work in your favour, the reason being, every year, a majority of engineers apply for the MIM programme, so this aspect of your profiel can pose a means to instill diversity in the cohort.

In addition to this, another significant aspect that schools focus on is extracurricular activities as they are looking for a holistically developed profile. Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest, or events you managed or participated in during your undergraduate. Volunteering initiatives, certifications, or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Herein, you have a good amount of extra-curricular activities. You have volunteered in a political organization in Budapest Hungary then you have also been a member of the sponsor circle of a German foundation. This shows that you have had a lot of international exposure. Further, you have also been a part of various clubs, events, and organisations.

So make sure you emphasize on what events you have led, what were your roles and responsibilities, what were your major takeaways. Elaborating them in your profile will showcase a holistically developed profile and would vouch for you being an apt candidate for the school.

Moving on to your professional experiences, you have a pretty extensive practical experience coupled with international tenures that is definitely praiseworthy and vouchers for your adaptability and broadened perspective. However, you lack the presence of big brand names in your profile and a well-reputed organisation plays a significant role in strengthening your profile. Thus, taking into consideration the fact that you will be competing with candidates from Big 4 firms or other big brands, you need to to differentiate yourself, highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, kind of impacts created, and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Thus, you should focus on the quality of your work to outweigh your competition.

Also you can further highlight CSR activities to showcase responsibilities taken up and the impacts created by you. This will help portray the socially responsible side of your personality and convince the adcoms of your abilities to be a great future leader. I’d suggest you begin working on this aspect if you lack experience in this sector.

Coming to GMAT, if your target is to get admission to the major top B-schools, then a score of 690+ is the best way to set yourself comfortable in their admission list as it would not only fulfill the basic eligibility criteria but also pose as proof of your academic abilities. For HEC in particular, you require a target score of 710 since it has a higher cutoff owing to its rank worldwide.

Seeing your school choices, HEC, INSEAD, and LSE comes under the dream category (acceptance rate of 40-50%) whereas ESADE comes under the competitive category (60-70%).

Regarding your query, CEMS is a great learning opportunity and it gives you immense international exposure. However, it solely depends on which schools and countries align well with your goals. Take into consideration your post masters goals to make a sound decision as to which program/location would work best in your favour.

Hi there,

Before I begin with your evaluation, I’d like to clarify that there are lots of factors, other than the ones you have provided, like your extracurriculars, your key highlights, and your internships that play an important role in your chance acceptance and thus in getting an admit from the top business schools.

That said, you have provided limited information for me to give you an accurate estimation of your chances in schools like Northwestern, McCombs, USC, and UCLA. Having said that, let’s begin with your profile evaluation on the basis of the information provided above.

Coming to your academics, the major in your undergraduate being in Statistics works in your favor since degrees like MSBA and MSiA are specialized masters programs and most schools prefer applicants with a relevant academic background or work experience in streams of Analytics. In addition, you have an impressive undergraduate GPA of 3.84, which showcases your academic prowess as well as a passion for the field.

As you have not mentioned your extracurricular activities - during or after your undergrad, I’d like to let you know that Extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your application as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavors you took up in any clubs, associations, sports, fest, or events you managed or participated in during your undergrad. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile, or seek to build the relevant proficiencies in this area to show that you are constantly on the path of upskilling yourself.

As far as your work experience goes, your role as a Junior Financial Analyst again showcases that you possess relevant pragmatic exposure in the field of Business Analytics, which will provide crucial value-addition to your application.

Since you haven’t mentioned the company’s name/brand, I would like to tell you that a big brand name plays a crucial role in the selection process, and therefore will give an upper-hand to the candidates having more extensive work experience hailing from big 4 brands. In order to counter this, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped you develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you undertook, any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals, and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences.

An overall GMAT score of 740 is pretty competitive and will allow you to target most of the top schools. That said, all the schools you are targeting - fall under the dream category. However, since you have not provided us much details, hence gauging your profile and estimating your chance of acceptance in such schools wouldn’t be really accurate.

Therefore, in order to avail an accurate evaluation of your chances of getting accepted at these schools, I’d suggest you drop in the complete details of your profile on our mail address info@mim-essay.com so I could present you with apt suggestions.

Alternatively, you can also Book a Free consulting session with one of our consultants for a more personalized profile evaluation, who will help you chalk a winning strategy to overcome the particular weaknesses in your profile and highlight your strengths through tried and tested methods that have helped over hundreds of similar applicants win an admit from top-ranked B-schools worldwide!

Nationality / Age: Filipino / 23 years old / Female
GMAT/GRE Score: 710 (Q48 V40 IR8) *no AWA. took it online

GPA / Work experience:
Grade: around 92%
Work Experience: 1 yr and 5 months in a local IT consultancy firm as a business analyst, specialized in finance/ banking applications. Projects were with the largest bank in the Philippines and a dutch branchless banking app
Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the highest ranked university in the Philippines. I'm not sure about the ranking of my program specifically. Graduated Cum Laude. University and College Scholar Awardee.

Extra Curricular Activities:
- Church volunteer work (Medical Missions and Tutoring impoverished students)
- Harp Therapy in nursing homes
- Harp teacher for beginners
- Tutored kids from my high school alma mater
- Taken a few courses/programs on Business Analytics/Data Science (DataCamp, EdX)

I also attended a very selective/competitive mathematics and science intensive high school. I was also part of a selective national math organization that held many competitions for 7 years (before university). Would adding these to my application help? To establish that I've always been comfortable with numbers? or would it be too much?

Master program(s) you are applying to?: Currently applying to ESSEC, ESCP, and ESADE Business Analytics programs.
I'm worried about Essec because the average GMAT of this year's cohort is 720 (10 points higher than my score).
ESCP is also very competitive, but academic referee is an alumnus. I hope that that would be plus in my application.

I'm interested in HECX, but I know they put a lot of value in international experience. I've never lived, worked or studied in another country.

Would also love to get any suggestions re: other schools to look at :D

Post-MS Targets: Would like to work as a business analyst/ data analyst for multinational corporation. I want to focus on e-commerce and tech. After a few years, I plan on setting up my own firm in the Philippines and teaching in my university.

Master program(s) you are applying to?: European MSc Finance Programs - LSE, HEC, Imperial, St. Gallen, RSM (Applied)
Post-MS Targets: Consultancy (Corporate Finance/Strategy)

I was quite disappointed with my GMAT score as, based on practice scores, I had intended this to be a strong point of my application. Particularly disappointed in my quant score as I understand this is taken in to greater consideration for finance programs.

I have sent the score to the schools listed above however I am now wondering if it is even worth proceeding with my application for some. HEC in particular I know will be unlikely as it has an average GMAT of 710 and the same is the case with USG (which has a minimum score of 680).

Should I be looking to retake the GMAT or would it still be worth applying with my current profile?
