Hi everyone,
I was interested in assessing my odds at HBS for a MBA degree.
I am from engineering background (as most applicants might be I suppose).
I have my undergrad from national institute of tech, India with a decent GPA of 7.46/10
I graduated from Penn State with a GPA of 3.71/4 with a MS degree in Civil Engineering.
I have 4 years or cumulative work experience (at the time of application it will be 5 years) in the construction industry with technical background. ( no business related experience
)
I haven’t given my GMAT yet but assuming I can get a score around 720 do you guys think I have any possible prospects at HBS?
Also I am very much interested in the research programs they have for human behavior and decision making at Harvard and currently researching more about each individual professor working in this field.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated. Thank you

The info that you have provided is too generic and covers some basic stats. HBS (or any other top B-School) is interested in stats+quality of your profile.
Even though GMAT is missing, but there are certain other aspects of your profile which also must be present to give a valuable feedback. Apart from Academic Background, these areas are Quality of Work Ex, Clarity of Post-MBA goals, Diversity, Leadership Potential. You will need a SPIKE in at least 2-3 of these factors stand a fighting chance at the likes of HBS. All these will then need to translate into wonderful stories in your essays and written application. You could read more here- How to Get Admission in Top B-Schools
Unfortunately the info give does not help assess much.

Academic Background:
Undergrad : NIT, Nagpur, India (GPA 7.46/10)
Bachelor of Tech. (Civil engineering)
Graduate school: Penn State University, US (GPA: 3.71/4)
Master of Science (Civil Engineering)
Nationality: India
Work Experience :
1 year at Indian govt. public sector company: construction tender management
3 years at Structural consulting firm: 1 year as a design engineer and 2 years as a project lead. (Manage, design and delivering projects in time )
1 year as a proprietor of structural consulting firm (self employed)
Active volunteering work for engineers without borders. (Construction of libraries in Panama)
Interests related to MBA: specialization in Human behavior and decision making with possible PhD prospective.
Career goals: establishing a career in real estate and capital insurance company in the risk assessment sector.
I am aware this might be still very generic profile and I would be working on this more in depth. But it would help to get an idea as to where I actually stand so that it could help to asses the amount of work cut out for me.

), do put in some solid effort into your essays. Ensure that your essays are reflective of your strengths, focus on portraying a set of career goals that seamlessly sync in with your professional experience, and highlight your need for an MBA at this point in your career.
