The answer is B

We taking Martin Luther out of the people who brought about the reformation .
We need best here because there are may people out which Martin Luther was best known .
Better is used for comparison when there are two things to compare .

Use POE to eliminate C,D, and E.
B is better than A. "of them" is redundant

it is reverse order sentence in which adverbial phrase goes first. So, we should put verb before subject

B is good and precise

chesstitans I can't imagine a sentence in which we'd say "the second after the best." The normal usage would simply be "the second best," as in "My cousin is the second best goalkeeper in the league," or "Not wanting to settle for second best, he pressured the hotel staff to upgrade his room to a suite."

I am thankful that you give me both the answer and the knowledge. Nevertheless, I still do not know how to say "after the person whom I love most, who is the person whom I love most ?"

"Of Them" in A is redundant. B is the best answer.
