Hi everyone,

Would be really grateful if any of you could evaluate my profile for NUS - Batch of 2021
I'm yet to appear for the GMAT and plan to take it early next year so that i have ample time for a retake in-case its required.

Age-24
Xth - 9.4 GPA
XIIth - 90.2%
UG - B.A. LL.B(5 year Law) - National Law University, Punjab - 8.5 GPA

Currently working at Desai & Diwanji(Corporate Law Firm) in the Gen Corp team. Would complete 2 years of work-ex in October 2020, thus aiming for the batch of 2021.
Would the limited work ex, ie. qualifying just the bare minimum(would be 2 years and a couple of months by the time i apply) be a negative in anyway?

Lastly, my extra curriculars are mostly in sports having played Football and Table Tennis at the National Level.

Would be really grateful if any of you could evaluate my profile for NUS - Batch of 2021!
Thanks in advance :)

Hi Akashkonline

- Please provide more details on your work and impact in the startups.
- In terms of your GMAT, try and practice more so you cross 700 on the GMAT, as NUS is quite particular about strong GMAT scores, especially from Indians. Do not be misled by the average GMAT scores reported by NUS.

Hi Tanwi

You should focus on enhancing your score to a minimum of 680, and if possible, 700+. While the other elements of your profile look promising (please do provide more details to enable a deeper assessment on those too), a GMAT score of 640 may not be enough.

Hi Suhaas20,

Good that you started early. Have you been able to take the GMAT yet? NUS accepts the applications on rolling basis every application cycle and the next cycle is about to start.
You have got a great profile there and NUS evaluates the candidates on the basis of :
1. Academics- You need to be an exceptional performer in this area, with strong grad scores and GMAT/GRE scores.
2. Clear Vision: You need to have a clear career path that you want to choose post MBA and establish yourself in the long term since it will determine the particular skills and knowledge you would require to pursue.
3. Beyond academics: NUS wants to know more about your personality, your life and who you are. Displaying hobbies and interests can highly contribute to “who you are”.

You have already got a great acad record and I would suggest a GMAT target of 700+. On the work front, yes, you have a limited work ex but what matters more is your impact and contribution at work and thus creating great (and authentic) stories of the same would help you out. Since NUS puts a great stress on knowing an individual beyond acads, your indulgence in sports can definitely help us knowing some of your great and unique traits, lest your extracurriculars are very outdated, to help you stand out in the process.

It would also be useful to understand your post-MBA goals and current gaps in your profile in order to evaluate your profile in depth. I am curious to know which stage you have reached in the process. If you'd like I am happy to hop on a call sometime this week to discuss your chances in further detail.
Feel free to book my calendar as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I just gave my GMAT yesterday and scored 690 (IR:7. Quant 50 and Verbal 33).

First, I'm unsure of how a score of 690 stand a chance of getting an admit in good b-school. I was aiming for 700+ but then verbal doomed me, and hence pretty disappointed.

Here's my background:

Electronics Engineer from BITS Pilani (Considered a good engineering college of India)

4 year+ work ex in sell side financial research.

1.5 years as a startup founder in healthcare tech (had 2 employees, 15 clients but due to lack of funds and inability to generate funding I'd to close it down last month. PS I was working on it along with my Job)

I'm expected to get recommendation of a top European luxury analyst (for whom I worked for more than 6 months) and an assistant director of my company (he managed my role)

I'm aiming for B-Schools in Singapore, mainly NUS, NTU for this year admit. Honestly, it's not even 3 weeks when their deadlines end, but do I even stand a chance if I somehow manage to apply by March 31st. If yes, what will be the process to undergo the same. Can I manage essays good enough to get an admit?

Looking forward to a prompt reply

Kind Regards,
Saurabh

Hi, congrats on your GMAT score. Your score is sufficient to apply NUS and NTU. However, GMAT is one of factor in the application process. You will have fair chances to get admit with this score, considering good essays and strong recommendations. All the best.
