Hi nukedeal,

Test Day is a rather specific 'event' - the details are specific and they matter, so you have to train as best as you can for all of them. The more realistic you can make your CATs, the more likely the score results are to be accurate. The more you deviate, the more "inflated" your practice scores can become - and that's what happened here. By skipping sections, taking the CATs at home, taking them at different times of day, pausing the CATs, etc., you weren't properly training for the FULL GMAT 'experience.' By extension, these practice CAT scores are likely not accurate. This is meant to say that you are more than 50 points "away" from a 730 right now, so beyond putting in the proper study, you also have to make the necessary adjustments to take your future CATs in a more realistic way.

1) Have you scheduled your Official GMAT yet (and if so, then what date is it?)?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

In past 7 days i have taken 5 mocks. (2 veritas and 3 GMATPrep). I scored. 680, 680, 660, 680, 650. Quant is anywhere between 48-49 but verbal is from 31-35.
680 on a GMATPrep is a very good sign. Is there any question format that looks particularly weak (or strong)?

Hello everyone,

I am from Delhi, India. I took my GMAT in Oct 2016 and scored a miserable 610 (Q47, V27). Even though i was scoring around 650-660 in my mocks, the exam got the better of me and i was just lost on that day.

I started with my preparation again 6 weeks back. I had initially taken e-gmat verbal course, practised from OG 10, OG 16 and OG VR and in total took 8 mocks.
This time in addition to that, i did all Magoosh questions and OG16.

In past 7 days i have taken 5 mocks. (2 veritas and 3 GMATPrep). I scored. 680, 680, 660, 680, 650. Quant is anywhere between 48-49 but verbal is from 31-35.

I am targetting a 730 minimum for a top 15 US B school. I got my profile evaluated and my consultant tells me, if i can get a 730, i have a good chance at Tuck.

After that mock performance, i think I think I am stuck. I am not sure what is going wrong and I finally think i need one on one profession help.

I need to take my GMAT in a month's time as I need to apply to R1 as well.

Can someone suggest me few good GMAT professionals, whom i can get in touch with.

Any help and suggestion will be great. I am very stressed out right now.

Hi

Magoosh is a good economical package, its video explanations are impressive
keep touch with it and you should probably need to practice more and more
700 level questions. Always time your practice
You can also take quizzes to meet the pace of GMAT
After handsome practice Take full lenght CATs, know your estimated score

Analyze the result with Correct/incorrect questions, pacing analysis
trace your mistakes and learn from them, make an error log to know
your mistakes in the previously attempted questions

Best CATs

1. Official GMAC (50+50$)
2. Manhattan GMAT (49$)
3. GMAT Club Quant CATs (80$)
4. Veritas CATs (49$ but you can buy at 15-20$ During sale period)

above Mock exams are as important as ranked

Good Luck
Cheers :)

Hi nukedeal.

Given that you are so close to your GMAT, you should focus more on verbal as it may benefit you more. You can consider E-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live are both amazing courses that can really help you improve your scores.

I personally do not think one should Focus on too many different things. It may be nice to give a couple of mocks (the official ones) and work on your weaknesses, but trying something new might not work in anyone’s favour. However if you want to improve on any individual area such as Sentence Correction, you may subscribe to the course as you can finish the whole course in 10 days (with proper dedication). If however you are only looking to indentify and improve on your weak areas, I would encourage you to purchase the e-gmat scholaranium. It is without a doubt, one of the best practice tools for verbal and will indeed help you on the final leg of your preparations.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi,

An upside to the 5 practice exams is that we now have a lot of data on how you perform during exams. If you would like advice on how to improve from here, you should take screenshots of your overall, quant performance, and verbal performance of your GMATPrep exams and post here or PM them to me. I also highly recommend getting an ESR of your first GMAT and uploading that as well.

Best,
Jae

If you can find a local tutor in India that meets your learning style - that could be a decent option - assuming tutoring prices are fine for you.

Since you are applying to R1 - you may be looking for help quickly - so an online program may help in your situation.

If you did all OG questions - would you feel comfortable enough to say that you are able to go through all the questions correctly if you were to look at them now?

Try to match up your thinking with the video explanations for OG we provide here: https://www.gmatpill.com/official-guide- ... ition=2016

1. No, i havent scheduled my GMAT yet. After last time i have decided, till i feel 80-90 percent confident, i am not scheduling my GMAT. Simple rule which i am following. if in 2-3 continuous mocks I get +/- 10 points around my target score, I will book and take it in that week.

2. I can put in 70 hours a week for next 2 weeks as I have taken time of work. After that, if required i can spend around 40 hours a week.

Yes, it is a good sign, I agree. however, still below what I am targetting, so not that great a sign in the hindsight. I am attaching files with my score for your reference. This includes 3 GMAT prep and 1 manhattan (V38) for your Reference. Besides this i took Veritas mocks 680 (Q 48, V 35) and 660 (Q48, V33)

You might want to ignore GMAT Prep 1, as this is the third time I am taking the mock and SC looks obnoxiously high. I consider SC as a challenge on my verbal (mentally atleast)

I will go through the explanations, thank you.

I can say, that i can get anywhere a 85 % accuracy on my OG 16 SC, 90% accuracy on my OG 16 CR, 90% on my OG VR2 SC and 95% on my OG VR2 CR.
