Thank you so much!
Will try to work on my profile
I sadly don't have time for a retake.
I'm hoping my profile will help me even though it's a far fetched shot!

What other hesitate to say

Consider retaking the GMAT, preferably instead of the GRE, to enhance the evaluation of your application.

Rest all looks fine. I would have said that academic score too are slightly on lower side but that can't be helped now so the discussion on academics can wait.

All the best...

Hello,
I'm interested in doing MiM and am planning to apply in Sept 2024. The colleges i want to go to :
1. INSEAD, France
2. Duke Fuqua
3. UMichigan, Ross
4. ESCP, France
5. ESSEC, France

I graduated in 2023 with a Btech in CSE with a specialization in Cyber Security.
I published a paper under an international conference in Machine learning.
My GPA is 7.91/10 which is a 3/4

I wrote my GRE recently and scored 311 ( 150V, 161Q)
I wrote my GMAT last year and scored 620 ( 30V, 46Q, 5 AWA, 2IR)

My work ex:
I am currently working in PwC as an associate as a full time employee. ( it's been 2 months)
I interned at PwC as a tech consultant for 6 months

I did a summer internship in Tech Mahindra in Business Operations.

I was a Teaching assistant in our colleges entrepreneurship and innovation centre.

I co founded a startup in college in the AR space. We qualified till semi finals in our countries Startup competition held by the Electronics & IT ministry.
Unfortunately the startup venture fell through.

My extra curriculars ( which I think are my strong suit)

I was the head of game development club. I organised and led an event which successfully had over 100 students as participants.

I am a core member of Debate club and social media head.
I have participated in around 6 tournaments out of which I have won in 2 and broke as an adjudicator in 1.

I ran a small business of crochet in my apartment in one of my summers

I had 2 extremely successful bake sales whose contributions went to NGOs.

My short term goal : I want to be a part of the business and management industry, i want to learn a lot more. I see myself in the consultant industry for the next few years.
I also would like to get into the finance industry. Hoping to give my CFA after Post graduation ( not sure of this yet! )

My long term goal : I want to start my own company, and as a prerequisite , i want to have the knowledge of finance and management to the level I have of CS

I would like to know:
1. Is my profile strong enough for my Target colleges?
2. Which score would you recommend i submit? GRE/GMAT.

( Im concerned that my scores might overshadow my extra curriculars and other skills. I hope that's not the case)

Thank you so much for reading through all this and giving me valuable feedback!
Truly Grateful,
Sarah :)

Hello Sarah967744,

I hope you are doing good. Your profile has several strengths that can make you a competitive candidate for Master in Management (MiM) programs at your target colleges. Graduating in 2023 with a B.Tech in Computer Science specializing in Cyber Security is a strong foundation for MiM programs, as it showcases your technical skills and potential for management roles. Your GRE score of 311 and GMAT score of 620 are on the lower side for top MiM programs. While these scores may not necessarily overshadow your extracurricular activities and other skills, they could be a concern for highly competitive schools like INSEAD, Duke Fuqua, and UMichigan Ross. You may want to consider retaking either the GRE or GMAT to improve your scores, especially if you can target a higher verbal score to balance your profile.

Your experience as an associate at PwC and your prior internship with them is valuable. These experiences align with your short-term goal of entering the consulting industry. Your involvement in clubs, debates, and entrepreneurship initiatives demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and a well-rounded profile. These activities can help offset any concerns about your test scores. Your startup venture experience is a plus. Even though it didn't lead to long-term success, it shows entrepreneurial spirit and practical experience in business.

Your goals are well-defined and demonstrate a clear path. Make sure to articulate these goals clearly in your application essays.

Now, to address your questions:

Is my profile strong enough for my Target colleges?:
Your profile is competitive, but your test scores are a concern, especially for highly selective programs like INSEAD. To strengthen your application, consider retaking either the GRE or GMAT to improve your scores. Additionally, focus on crafting compelling essays that highlight your strengths, experiences, and goals.

Which score would you recommend I submit? GRE/GMAT?:
Given your current scores, you may want to retake either the GRE or GMAT to aim for a higher score, particularly in the verbal section. Admissions committees typically consider the highest score you achieve, so a higher score will work in your favor.

Overall, your extracurricular activities and experiences demonstrate leadership and initiative, which can compensate for your test scores to some extent. However, improving your scores will make your application even more competitive and increase your chances of admission to your target MiM programs. Ensure your application essays showcase your passion for business and management and how your experiences have prepared you for the program.

Good luck with your applications!
