Hi pgpexclass2020,

Could you please give us a glimpse of the MBAEx class? What are the backgrounds of students? how classes are conducted? How is the placement scenario - are most of the students getting placed in their desired industries/companies?

I have 7 yrs of experience in IT industry. I have done BE comp and MBA finance(simsree).
10th- 91.6 4th rank state board
12th- 91.5 11th rank state board
BE- 72% first year topper
GMAT :670

Currently I am working as consultant in ERP implementation. I have limited international experience in Asia Pacific countries. What are my chances in IIM Calcutta for MBA ex program.

I have average extra curriculars like participant in organising different events and did work for NGO.

The international experience is a plus. ECA is not a big factor for IIMC (the NGO work helps, though the event organization carries limited value). Overall, if you can raise your score a bit do so. You should have a decent chance with a strong app.

The current batch has 16% students with work experience of more than 11 years. So your work experience wont be discouraged in any way.

The admissions committee looks holistically at each and every application. GMAT score is one of the criteria. So give your GMAT and prepare a good application.

I am Abhinav . The following is a brief summary of my profile :-

GMAT : 710 ( Q50 , V36)

Under Graduation Discipline & Percentage :- Petroleum Engineering ( 74.6%)

University :- Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University

Work Experience : 5 years 9 months ( As on March 31st , 2020 ) . I have been a part of the projects department for a period 3 years and currently in the technical operations department.

Company : Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation LNG ( State PSU)

Post MBA objectives :- To be in a general management or operation management function.

The following are my queries :-

1)Given that the average work ex at IIMC PGPEX is 8 years 5 months . Would my low work ex be a major hindrance in my chances of getting an admit ?

2)I am currently pursuing the PMP certification , but am not sure whether i will be ablke to appear for the exam before the IIMC deadline , would mentioning that am pursuing the course or have booked my exam date carry any weight in my application ?

1. We have a lot of students with work experience in the range of 6 years, so your current work experience would not hinder your chances of admission in MBAEx program.
2. Yes please mention about undergoing certification in your application.

Accommodation - MBAEx students have options either to choose single accommodation at MDC or Family Accommodation.

Surely you can apply for the course. There is no upper age restriction.
