In a school with 10 teachers, a committee of 4 needs to be formed. If the principal insists that at least one of the two specific teachers must be on the committee, how many different ways can the committee be formed?
a) 126
b) 168
c) 210
d) 252
e) 294

Can someone help me with this? This question was generated by the TTP AI, but the solution suggested by the AI calculates it to be 140 (which is not in the option) and marks 168 as the correct answer. When I asked for the solution again, it showed 210 as the correct option though the calculation still showed 140.

The number of committees of 4 out of 10 without restriction = 10C4 = 210.
The number of committees of 4 which have neither of the two specific teachers = 8C4 = 70.

The number of committees with at least one of the two specific teachers = 210 - 70 = 140.

1. AI, for the moment, is NOT a reliable source for math problems or solutions.
2. Practice quality questions from below:

Hey all! A query for this question. While calculating the average speed of a body which is say moving between two points A & B, do we need to consider the "time spent at B" by the body for calculating average speed or only the time spent by the body in motion? This is in reference to this DS question(mischa-drove-from-a-to-b-a-distance-of-100-miles-176883.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqweiOPnPL9trj94VretEdntiUUFbFZ5CWxEPAROp4GmXtfrfA8). I marked E thinking the terms "excluding any time spent at B" could be a trap

That depends on the problem. If it has to be considered, it will be explicitly mentioned in the problem. Otherwise, its usually, the time is duration of the body in motion. Hope it helps!

Bob invested one half of his savings in a bond that paid simple interest for 2 years and received $550 as interest. He invested the remaining in a bond that paid compound interest (compounded annually) for the same 2 years at the same rate of interest and received $605 as interest. What was the annual rate of interest? ( can we solve this without formula and by using logic ?
