Female/Indian/24

Work Experience: 3 years of experience having worked with an NGO for the past two years and a couple of other organizations in the Development Sector

Education: Master's in Development Economics & Policy from Top 5 Development Institute and Bachelor's in Economics from India. 2.9 GPA from Undergrad, 2.2 classification from the Master's degree.

Goal of MBA: For a long time now I've been taking on a lot more responsibility at work where I am actively managing multiple people and areas at one time and I feel I am ready for a management position but I don't necessarily have all the skills I need. Furthermore, social entrepreneurship has been on my radar for some time having met and interacted with many representatives of social enterprises. I want to learn more about social entrepreneurship and possibly set up my own social enterprise a few years post the course and having gained work experience in a few social enterprises.

GMAT: This is the massive challenge for me. I am just not capable of ever hitting a 700. I've a re-test scheduled for this week after my poor performance of 490 the last time I gave it.

Target schools: HEC, ESADE, WHU Otto Bensheim, Munich Business School, IMD Lausanne, ESMT Berlin, Cologne Business School, Maastricht School of Management and (I'm open to other options you could recommend as well!)

I just want some guidance on what I can do to make my profile stand out a bit more.

Thank you!

hi @swatato, Thanks for your request for a profile review. Will give you my thoughts below.

I'm just gonna give this to you straight--you have a couple of big hurdles-- already having the masters degree, the low GPA and the low GMAT. I suggest you also look at some programs where you don't need a GMAT score--Michigan State does not require a GMAT score-- you can read about this here: https://poetsandquants.com/2018/03/26/w ... ut-a-gmat/ and also at Rotman if you had a different test such as CFA- which seems unlikely that you'd want to do this given your interests... but look for programs that are thinking outside the box on looking beyond GMAT. Also- I would try taking the GRE instead and get a coaching program as this could help. I think you have a shot at some of the programs you mention here-- and then I added a few in looking at Michigan State and Rotman. I also think it may help you to identify some positions for MBAs with social impact interests and then see where those programs recruit and use that as another way to narrow your school list.
I just want some guidance on what I can do to make my profile stand out a bit more.

Thank you!
