Hi,
Could you please evaluate my profile and gauge my chances at Melbourne Business School? I am also looking for some information on how the scholarships work at MBS and what are the chances of securing an interview with top Management Consulting firms with my GMAT score.
I understand that the big consulting firms do not consider candidates with a GMAT score <700. Is this true? I am planning to give another exam next month and my target score is 700+.
Profile:
Female, Age 32, Mother of 2 (3yr & 1yr old)
Australian Citizen (India born)
Education:
10th – 79.5%
12th - Diploma/Polytechnic – 76.27%
Graduation – B.E in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from AMIETE – 6.56 GPA
GMAT – 670 (Q45,V37,IR6,AWA5)
Work Experience:

Extra- Curricular:
Worked as a teacher and a helper for a non-profit school for 7 years from 2005-2012.
Post MBA goals:

Just from looking at the Class profile from P&Q https://poetsandquants.com/school-profi ... ss-school/ I can see that you are a bit shy of their 703 GMAT avg so trying for 700+ is good. Your avg age is not too far off the avg for the school so that is good- and you bring some interesting diversity in motherhood that may resonate.
I understand that the big consulting firms do not consider candidates with a GMAT score <700. Is this true? I am planning to give another exam next month and my target score is 700+. Generally speaking, if there is a profession that scrutinizes the GMAT it would be consulting, so for that goal it helps to be as high as possible. I don't know that I'd ever say never- but I bet more consultants at the big firms do indeed have GMAT scores about 700.

I think you may be able to leverage your extensive IT background to move to consulting and that you should start building your network of people in these roles so that you can learn how to best prepare through MBA and other experience to be ready for the transition. I'm not sure the work as a teacher/helper will move any levers for you-
and I also think you might want to look at some of the Canadian B schools as those might be a good option as well.
