Hello
pawanbell1989Shortlisting a b-school will require much more than just a few bullet points that cover years, industry and acads.
Let us start with Work Ex- More than industry and function a school will be interested in your career progress in these 7 years. Also what are your key achievements and real business impact of your work?
Coming to Acads- Definitely not stellar, especially considering an Indian (who are expected to score high on the GMAT) however, this can be compensated if you have a spike in some other area (say work ex or extracurricular)
All Extracurricular activities can boost your profile as long as there is a Long Term Involvement, Seriousness and a positive impact on you as a person/professional/candidate.
Lastly the most important factor is clarity of goals. You wish to specialize in marketing. What existing transferable skills do you have that will help you switch your function/field (once an MBA is added to it)? Why is an MBA a necessity (and not a marketing course for instance).
Looking at all of the above holistically will present a picture which will make it a bit easier to select schools that fit your overall profile and future ambitions.
Let me know if you wish to discuss this further.

I am an Indian Mechanical Engineer with 7 years of work experience. 2 years in factory automation and 5 years in Oil and Gas (Drilling).
GMAT 690, low gpa 3.0. I have extra curricular activities under my belt such as having been in a band (I highly doubtful if this would ount though) and have participated in many marathons and long distance cycling races.
I wish to apply for a Marketing specialization, preferably a 15-18 month course.
Could the experts here please help me with selecting a few colleges in
1. Europe
2. Asia
3. Canada
4. USA
Any inputs would be highly appreciated.
