Hi, this might be a silly question but just want to double check.
I have a question about the STEM pathways in many MBA programs - someone told me that even if I take a STEM concentration in one of these programs, the job I apply to must also be a STEM job for my H1B visa to be approved. Is this true?
For example, I have a background in real estate and I'm planning to recruit in a general management role in real estate development. To the best of my knowledge this isn't a STEM role, so does this pose any risk of me not receiving the 3-year OPT or of my H1B application not being approved?

You would be doing some spreadsheets and scientific analysis of the ground samples and some visual basic programming for your Real Estate role, right? Sounds pretty STEMmy to me. The reality is that it is a game that the government and attorneys who file petitions play. The gov makes ridiculous rules that they know nobody can follow and attorneys try to hit all the checkpoints. At the end the gov folks just care that the checkmarks are checked. Many roles can be sound STEM-related.
P.S. With STEM. You get the OPT for 3 years and you don't have to worry about H1B per se. Another STEM conversation is here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/stem-designa ... 13573.html
