Hi,

I am planning to apply to Rotman in R2/R3

My profile
Indian
Bachelors of Engg. CGPA 7.55 2009
4 years in cisco with a promotion and a year in Holland
a year of backpacking around 23 countries in Europe/asia
3 and a half years of a small travel business (Hostel +Tours) which I started and is sustainable/Profitable

GMAT 780 (Q50 V 47 IR8 AWA 5)

I plan to work in a travel company as product manager post MBA and open a bigger travel business long-term. Are there companies/startups in Toronto for this?

I am thinking of applying in R2 but should be able to submit a better application by R3. What is the difference of chances of admission/Scholarships in R2/R3. Any ideas from last years or Has anyone checked this with the adcoms?

Thank you for your post and congrats on a fantastic GMAT score! That will certainly help you with scholarships. Coming from a former hospitality guy, you have a somewhat unique profile. That said to want to avoid round three ideally. If you are targeting scholarships you are better off waiting for round one when all of the funds are available. Reach out if you want to explore this further.

Cheers,
Scott

Hi SanjayMBA,
1) Any particular reason for Rotman? Presented well, you could get good scholarships to top notch US schools.
2) All things equal, R2 has generally been better than R3. That said, DO NOT APPLY until your application is ready, whatever it takes.
3) You didn't write anything about your post-MBA goals, your LORs etc. They will give a better idea of whether you are ready.

Hope that helps. Feel free to connect for a free, more intense one-to-one evaluation.

Hi All,
I'm an Indian male with 8+ years of experience in sales and marketing in automotive industry.
I have pretty decent extra curricular.
I'm targeting ISB, NUS and NTU for R2.
Should I go ahead with this score or should try GMAT once more and try next year.
By next year my experience will be 9+.

Hi SanjayMBA,

In general, travel companies don’t recruit much at B-schools. You may have to recruit primarily through networking, reaching out to alumni, and so on... using more of informal channels. Also, you should aim for R2 for better odds of acceptance and landing fellowships.
