Hi
Mohitkher123,
It's a long story and I will be very candid, so that you can take a judgement for yourself.
Initially I signed up with MyMBAJourney(Akshat) for 5 schools. But soon I realised he was a waste of time and money. There was no help whatsoever from him. And when I wrote the essays, sometimes he completely scrapped my stories and wrote some Superficial high level stories. This would eventually end up hurting my candidacy.
So I decided to try out Redpen and signed up for 1 school(CBS) , and to upgrade to more schools if they work out. Overall, I had a mixed experience with Redpen. Their processes are good and at the end I was happy with my application for CBS. My consultant helped me dig deeper into my experiences, while guiding me throughout the process. Their help with Resume and LOR was also good. Unfortunately, I applied to CBS in round 2 and CBS mostly fills up their class in early decision. In R2 they primarily look for people who meet specific quotas. By the time, I became aware of this it was too late and I had to go with the application. You would expect your consultant to at least suggest these things before you shortlist the school. The other thing is that I ended up spending a lot of time on CBS, due to which I didn't have any time left to upgrade.
However the brainstorming with Redpen helped me write the application for other schools that I applied with Akshat.
Result - I got dinged at CBS and waitlisted at the 4/5 schools with Akshat. It seems that there was something in my application that Schools found interesting, but probably there was something missing.
My advice - If you are applying early go with Redpen and don't go for 1 school package.
Hope this helps you make a better decision and you don't end up like me. Wish you the best!
PS- This is totally based on my experience. My standards were very low after working with Akshat. So do more research and talk to more people before signing up.
