Just got an invite!!! excited.

I'm in Dallas, TX and I am a Permanent Resident.

I had lost hope. This process is nerve breaking.

Congrats! I'm in Dallas, TX, too. Here's to hoping I get off this waitlist!

Waitlisted means waitlisted to be interview right? I don't think they won't accept anyone without interviewing them.

Waitlist....same result as last year. Sigh

Hey, I am in the same boat as you, although first year.
How long did u have to wait last year for the final decision?

For me, they told me my decision on April 1 last year that I had been rejected. But I know others who got notification that they were still on the waitlist. Either way, you'll get an update at around that time.

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: On-Campus Interview Update
Round I interviews are in full swing.  A few members of the Admissions team, myself included, are touring the globe meeting with amazing candidates. I was in Mumbai earlier this week, currently finishing up in Tel Aviv, and will be in London, Madrid, and Paris next week.

A large percentage of candidates choose to come to the MIT Sloan campus in Cambridge to interview.  A great benefit of interviewing on campus is that you have the opportunity to have lunch with current MIT Sloan Students.  They have been coming out in droves to meet interviewees!   The other day, the students surprised us and posted their favorite things about MIT Sloan on the whiteboard in the lunch room.  It made me proud to see this- even from afar!  For those of you who cannot interview on campus or come to visit this fall, I wanted to share a glimpse of the whiteboards with you:

Additionally, Jason Mahler, one of our student bloggers wrote a fantastic articleon how to ace the interview. It is definitely worth reading.

Best of luck to those of you interviewing- and, to quote, Jason Mahler, remember to BE YOURSELF!

Anyone got ant idea how many interview slots were there in total - I know there were 19 in Mumbai, India and 28 in SF, California.

It would be great to know from others if they checked the total number in their hub cities.

The adcom have continually said this year that they intake half the matriculating class in R1 and the other half in R2.

For R1 then, to hit 200 acceptances assuming 50% interview success rate and 70% yield, it calculates to about 570 interviews.

That might not be true this year - I spoke to an Adcom before the application deadlines. He said that they really don't know what to expect since they moved the R1 deadline to a month earlier than prior years. So they are expecting fewer applications in Round 1, so they might offer fewer interviews.

I understand that doing a backward calculation it should be approx 550 interviews but considering MIT is only interviewing at 13 locations (incl Cambridge) and the slot count at two hub cities (which should be pretty large hub cities after campus interview) is average 24-25 so my guess is that MIT has interviewed less candidates this year- may be ~ 380-400 (considering atleast 75-80 interviews at campus)?

There is one more thing which Adcom has said earlier that they interview ~18-20% of top candidates and take ~50-60%. Also they have maintained that they take offer same number of admits in each round. So based on 4,600 application (~2000 in R1 and 2,600 in R2)- they would have interviewed ~400 candidates and might offer admission to ~250 (assuming yield of 70% in a class size of 350, excluding LGO)

This actually makes sense because last year there were 38 interview slots in SF while this year there were 28 (almost 26% less). However I am not sure of number of hub cities last year.

@celerIP- I noticed you interviewed in SF, when did you receive interview invite and how long was the interview? Did they ask you why MIT, Why now sort of questions or was it all behavioral?

Yea this is a good estimation. I was about to say that MIT is known to interview less people (~20%) and accept more interviewees (close to ~70%) for an overall acceptance rate of 13-15%.

In comparison, Wharton interviews 40% of applicants and accepts 40% of interviewees for a total acceptance rate of ~16%.

Just got my DING ....FRUSTRATION!! It seems that Sloan wants to reduce the number of Brazilians on campus. None of those who I know were even invited to interview.
As I posted 2 weeks ago MIT has kept the same pattern from previous years and sent out some invitations today.
Congrats for those who got the invite today and for those who were wait listed without interview move on , considering the pattern from previous years the school gives priority for those wait listed after interviewing .

Just got my invite 20 minutes ago ;) The waiting has paid off.

Seems that they are still sending invites.

Good luck to all of you still waiting.
