Stern (NYU) 2013 - Calling All Applicants

I submitted on the 13 with my last reco coming in on the 14 I initially got an application submitted email but just today got the email that application is going to be reviewed with link to app status website

Based on last year's forum, I'm guessing interview invites will start rolling by mid December.

Sigh. The MBA Application essays. Who thought it was a good idea to ask people to write 2000 words before they even get INTO school? Turns out, it doesn’t matter, because someone did… and now you have to come up with the most compelling and memorable essays about leadership that you can. And then do it again for every school you apply to.

It’s not easy, but this upcoming event should help. Submit your MBA Application essay to have an opportunity to have it reviewed for free by the team at Admissionado. Three essays will be selected, and if you are one of the lucky ones, you will have the opportunity to go through your essay with Phillip Herring (admissions expert and CBS MBA) in a live session. You will need to be OK with sharing your essay with attendees (don’t worry – we’ll keep your name/private info out of it), and available and online at the time of the event to chat it up with Phillip. Even if you aren’t selected, listen in, because there will still be plenty of essay advice to go around.

Interview invite came today..

if you don't mind can you post when you submitted and got your email that it was under review?

Sure. I submitted my application on November 7th, my last recommendation wasn't in until the 15th, though, and received the notification that it was under review on November 27th. I know I haven't been active on this forum but I figured this would be helpful to people. Good luck everyone!

I finished and submitted my app 11/25 for Round 1 (I was part of the National Guard response for the hurricane), but I haven't heard anything back. I got confirmation that it was submitted, but I haven't gotten the email saying it is being processed. Anyone else in that boat?

You mean you did not get the one that contains the link, username and password to their Application Status Check Website?

Right. I guess a lot of people didn't get their until last week (2 weeks post deadline) I still have a week or so, but it feels a bit odd.

I see. Well, their initial notification does say that they'll send that second e-mail "within the coming weeks", so I don't think it's too late. Maybe others can chime in...

It took 12 days from when my application was complete until getting that notification email, and another 7 to get the interview invitation. So if that is anything to go by, perhaps you have a couple more days until yours should arrive? Also thanks for your service, I live in NY and have a lot of respect for you.

Thanks!! I submitted on Nov 14th, then I think it went under review on the 20th. I'm in California.

Are you flying in for the interview? Have you looked at the available dates yet? The availability seems a bit strange to me..and of course, congrats!

Thanks! Yeah I am flying, they only rarely grant phone interviews. NYU makes on-campus interviews pretty much mandatory. They didn't give me too many options for the interview date either.
