| FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: Women’s Events |
As an alumna of MIT Sloan, one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing other MIT Sloan Women making a positive impact in the classroom and in the workplace. I invite you to join female members of the MIT Sloan community at one of our MIT Sloan Women alumnae panels this week to learn more about what an MBA from MIT Sloan can mean for your career trajectory. At each of these events, you can expect to hear from successful female leaders about opportunities for career growth, the MIT Sloan community, networking options, and how to balance it all. Register here for one of our events:

| FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: Veteran’s Day |
This fall has been an incredibly uplifting time here in Red Sox Nation. It is also a time to give thanks. I would like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to the Veterans who have served, and the men and women currently serving in the Armed Forces, along with their families. In observance of Veterans Day, the MIT Sloan Admissions Offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2013. I invite you to watch a video interview with current student and Veteran Jeff Prosek, MBA ’14, to learn more about daily life as a Sloanie. Jeff was a U.S. Navy P-3 Orion Flight Officer and he is one of the Co-Presidents of the Sloan Veterans Association, a student-run organization that serves as the MIT Sloan veteran hub. Learn more about the amazing community of Veterans at MIT Sloan by reading the latest article from News@Sloan. ![]()

| FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: LGO Program |
From time to time, I will post guest blogs from my MIT Sloan colleagues. Jane Deutsch, Director of Admissions and Career Development for the Leaders of Global Operations (LGO) Program, shares LGO updates and application tips: Last week at our annual Ambassadors Day and Information Evening, LGO welcomed 125 prospective applicants from all over the U.S. and as far away as Montreal and Mexico (read more here). I’m always invigorated by this day and inspired by the enthusiasm and energy of both the current LGOs who run the events and the potential applicants. It reminds me of why I love doing admissions for LGO. ![]() Co-chairs Nahathai Srivali and Concepcion Kafka, LGO ’15s, Welcome Prospective Students to Ambassadors Day. It is also very gratifying to represent a product – in this case, an academic program – that people are so excited about. Several attendees told me that as soon as they heard about MIT’s dual degree in management and engineering, they knew LGO was a perfect match because it allows them to enhance their engineering and technical skills, as well as to develop the management knowledge they need to be leaders in the industry. “The single most valuable part of my experience is the program’s leadership development component,” said Albert Chan (LGO ’15) in an e-mail to prospective LGO students. “Staff, alumni, and students alike have continued to impress upon me the importance of principled leadership. In business, especially, doing the right thing matters.” (Read Albert’s full e-mail here.) Albert also offers prospective students three suggestions on how to personalize their applications and make them shine:

| FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: Thoughts Go Out to the Philippines |
We are saddened by the destruction in the Philippines, and we express our deepest sympathies to the people who have been affected by this tragedy. The MIT Alumni Association recently posted an article extending their condolences, as well. On campus, students have been finding ways to offer much-needed assistance. MBA student Brett Lim, with friends and family from the affected area, shares information on how others can help: We have finally been able to mobilze and have set up a donation site for victims of the typhoon. We are looking to rebuild homes in Leyte. There has been a lot of help coming in for immediate relief, but we feel there will be a need to focus on getting people back on their feet. We have engaged groups that build houses, like Habitat for Humanity, and are looking at different ways to approach the problem. We were even featured in USA Today for our efforts.”
