A question to all the 700+ scorers:
Did any of you use any training institutes for GMAT preparation? Many people have suggested it to me so far and I feel that while a first time GMAT taker could benefit from it, it wouldn't help someone like me much as I have already taken it once and know what to expect now and how to prepare for it. However, considering that I am not from an engineering background, I wondered if I should go for it after all.

Anyone from a non-engineering background who scored above 700?

Yes...Me & My fiance both from non-engineering back ground , scored 700 above (710 & 760) and have been admitted to Kenan Flagler in R2... :)

I didn't take a course, since I knew that I would have the basics down, but i did use the MGMAT topic-area books for areas of weakness (for me that was Number Properties) and the Kaplan GMAT 800 book for overall review.

I've heard a lot of people say that the Kaplan books have questions much more difficult and complicated than what actually appears on the GMAT. Is that true??

I would say yes. The thing that it really helped me with was determining where my areas of weakness are. That book also doesn't really "teach," which the MGMAT books do. Good luck!

which concentration do you want to persue ?

personally I would go for the free ride as it allows you to take risks later on ( entrepreneurial steps for example )
Also with a free ride , you can increase your budget for network building expenses ( travelling )

I am not a big expert , but i think consulting concentration at carlson is not bad at all and combined with the free ride , it makes a sweet deal ( if you can take the cold weather at Minnesotta )

My only reservation for Carlson is that students don't get job offers outside of the midwest.

Did anyone else just now get an email that their application is now 'complete' ? I submitted on the deadline and had everything sent by then but just now received a response.
