Here's the email I got when I asked the school about the interview. Hope it helps:In an effort to be fair and equitable to our applicant pool, we offer all applicants the opportunity to interview on campus in Notre Dame, IN. Applicant-initiated, on campus interviews are scheduled online and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We understand that not everyone can make it to campus, so we also offer select opportunities for applicant-initiated interviews in off campus locations. Please check our Recruiting Events web page for periodic updates on dates and locations. Requests for interviews in off campus locations can also be submitted online and will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alumni interviews and Skype interviews are conducted by invitation only. If the Admissions Committee invites you to interview, you will receive the invitation and scheduling information via e-mail.
At this time, the Admissions Committee has not requested an interview for your application file. This may change as the Committee reviews files right up until the decision release deadline. However, we will not interview all applicants. Time and resource constraints prevent us from offering interviews to all applicants and so the Committee selects those files for which additional information is needed before making an admissions decision. An Admissions Committee-initiated interview provides the Committee with more information about you. Whether a request is received or not is not an indication of the outcome of your application.
I hope this clarifies where your application is at and our interviewing for this round. Thank you, again, for your application and your patience as we work through all the applications received during this round.
