Hey Guy,
First time woke up early in many months and a good news was waiting for me in my Inbox. Interview call from Mendoza and that too after being waitlisted. Anyone who has given interview please help with some tips.

hi , which round did you apply for ?
and where are you from ( I am assuming India )

So , they wait listed you in the earlier round without an interview ?

Hi Jinson,

That would be the logical explanation. Mendoza is know to waitlist a lot of students without interview. By looking at the quality of our apps they must be going back to the previous round applicants :) (pun intended!)

Any R3 applicant here? I applied on 9th Feb but haven't heard anything yet.

Should I maintain more patience or should I start panicking :? ?

HI all,

Be noted that the interview with adcom will have one logical question. You could refer to some questions in a book called How to move the mount Fuji. The case question is to test your logical thinking only.

lonetraveller you should always maintain more patience. I know it seems hard to do, and it was excruciatingly hard for me to do, but the ND staff is amazing. I guarantee you they are working hard to get through everyone's applications. I was just up there 2 weeks ago and it was great to meet them and some of the current students, as well as future classmates. Just sit tight and enjoy the last little while before life becomes a whole lot more hectic. If worse comes to worse and you can't take it anymore I am sure the staff wouldn't mind a phone call. Lord knows I have called a few times myself...

Hi,
Need Help !!
I just received a mail from Mendoza admissions waiving my application fee and insisting on applying before the next deadline. Though I have no clue why they did that. However I am an international candidate and as they clearly state that there may be visa issues associated on late applying I was wondering if anyone who is in a situation like this or can help me out as to whether I should go ahead with the application please reply..
Also does a school initiated fee waiver imply better chances of getting into a college?? I haven't received any admits yet and been dinged by two.. really hoping that this be a positive sign.

hi , it is a great school and I have applied to R2 and notification is on 28th.
they have suffered a recent slip in rankings ( do not know the reason ) and they might be thinking of improving the rankings with your very high GMAT.
Yes ,the chances are better when the college invites you. But please bear in mind that they only know the range of your GMAT from the GMASS service and have no clue regarding your profile. Having said that , i repeat , the chances are better if they invite you.
Regarding visa : If you get a notification by April end , you should be safe, but keep your financial documents in place assuming a decent schol.

Hey, I would not recommend applying unless you have a great and diverse profile. Mendoza has a small class size and I think many Indians are already admitted. I wouldn't read too much into the mail you received. We all received it.

If you apply and you didn't get through(god forbid), it is difficult to reapply as the first round is only in few months(and there won't be any considerable changes in your profile by that time). It is always better to wait and apply in the next year early action(if it comes to that).

I am not trying to discourage you but this is what I feel. But, if you really like the school and have enough time to make a great app, then please go ahead!

Thanks,
Prodizy

The reason is the lowering rank of Mendoza in FT rank which emphasizes the percentage of international students in the class. Mendoza has only 20 0r 21 % of int'l students in its class. That number is quite low as compared to that of other schools.

Hi Prodizy,
The timing of the invitation cannot be discarded . We received it quite early , some thing like a mass mailer thing. But now after the expiry of R1 acceptance and close to R2 notification date, they might have a much more clearer idea regarding the anticipated class composition. Now taking into account , the diversity factor and the high gmat , much more wieghtage can be accorded.
Regards
Jinson
