FROM Booth Admissions Blog: Winter Break Updates

The autumn quarter is already over? Booth students have completed their finals and now the Winter Garden looks just a bit emptier until they’re back to begin winter quarter in early January. I’ve heard from many of the students that they’ll be on the Booth ski trip, travelling the globe, or taking a long overdue visit home for some traditional holiday cooking or last minute shopping. Winter break is a good time to unwind and enjoy the comfort of their families and to begin thinking about what winter quarter may look like!

The admissions office is taking a breather as well so that we can enjoy our friends and families over the holiday season. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Campus Visit Program

We we will not offer the campus visit program during the weeks of December 22 and December 29 due to the Holiday break. We will start the new year with two last additional abbreviated visit days on January 5 and 9. Be sure to register here.

The full schedule campus visit program will resume on January 13, 2015. By then our students will back in full swing and ready to meet you! We will offer visits Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Register in advance to schedule your visit.

Office of Admissions Hours

The Office of Admissions will be closed on the following days: Friday, December 19 at 2pm, Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26, Thursday, January 1 and Friday January 2. Feel free to email questions during that time to [email protected] and we will respond as soon as possible.

While we’re away, we encourage you to take a peek at The Booth Experience student blog where you can find out what’s going on with our current students and learn about winter treks and their holiday destinations!  Or meet students as they host events around the globe during break. Don’t forget our Round 2 application deadline is January 6, 2015.  And, of course, Chicago Booth Live is back on January 23, 2015!

It looks so different now here in Chicago than it did last year.  We’ve reached 50 degree temperatures on some days and still… no snow.  Must be a gift someone left for us! Wherever you find yourself during these next few weeks I hope that you enjoy a safe and restful holiday.

Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year!

Eddie

waitlisted as well but found out my coworker got in. I'm his boss so a bit deflated. I submitted Columbia app last week and after visiting Booth think I want columbia anyways, so let's hope!

Interesting, you guys close in age? Or in a field where promotions come frequently?

I have the roll 1.5 years out of MBA (fast promote-through consultant) and he is a 3rd year Associate but age wise he is prob 2 years younger. Totally different interests post-school

You know what I'm really curious about? Are the scholarship chances diminished by the fact that you are placed on a waitlist? Logic tells me that to a certain extent this is true, but not quite sure since I havent read anything

Cheers

I would assume the odds are not very strong . However there may be a slim chance in the event a scholarship is left not-taken and a wait-listed candidate qualifies. As i said , its a long shot but there may be company sponsored (generous) folks out there who simply put ,couldn't care less.

I've been accepted into Booth and Georgetown's McDonough. I prefer Booth, but Gtown is offering me a significant amount of $$$. Any recommendations on how to approach Booth and ask if they might be able to provide something?

May be worth a try, but I would tread lightly. I'm guessing the McDonough offer won't give you any leverage since they are clearly on different tiers. If it was Kellogg with scholarship, for example, it would be a different story.

If you're aiming for a typical post-MBA role (consulting, banking, etc), I would certainly still take Booth without scholarship. Either way, congrats on your great accomplishment!
