Yes, I mean background check. I apologize, I should have been more specific. The company's fee is $45 so I can't imagine they get too in depth. My guess is they run a criminal background check, look at a credit report, check social media and probably randomly select applicants for more advanced screening stuff like that. As far as I understand it, their job isn't to find everyone's deepest darkest secrets just to validate you are who you say you are and there aren't any obvious, glaring red flags with you as a potential student. If anyone else has more knowledge of the process I would love to know, but that is my best guess for now.

Did any of you guys / gals get anything in the mail from CBS? An official letter or any good swag? Perhaps that comes after I write that first deposit check?

I received a US Postal Service First Class envelop that had a smaller Columbia envelope inside with an official acceptance letter. It said something along the lines of, 'Although we have already spoken with you, we wanted to still send you an official acceptance letter' (paraphrasing)

Guys, btw spoke to several CBS alumni and they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with taking a 5 month sabbatical and travel before starting MBA for recruitment purposes. Seems many people do it and in fact there's https://www8.gsb.columbia.edu/notes/cont ... world-tour , which is pretty cool so for anyone interested in traveling. So for all of you having plans of traveling, spending time with your family or just sleeping or watching TV before they start business school. Don't panic!! Cheers J

Just to add my two cents, out of the 15 or so people that I know that have gone to top b-schools, all of them are 100% onboard with peacing out and doing whatever the hell it is they want. You've earned it and anyone who says otherwise has yet to realize how precious time is.

I just sent a check for my deposit. How long does it take to get your lifetime ID & UNI? I only have the PID currently. I tried to activate my UNI but the site said "UNI not found." I was admitted last Wednesday to provide context. Thanks!

Hello, I was accepted on October 24th and sent my deposit November 5th. I got my UNI and lifetime ID on November 6th, so one day after my deposit confirmation was sent. Hope this helps.
