I chose C because in A,it says the General motors moved to explain its strategy.So can a company do things itself.

Employees explained their strategy suits better in this regard.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that you'll never see this usage of "move" in an official GMAT question. It's not wrong, exactly, but it's somewhat colloquial and pretty unnecessary in most cases. In this context, it basically means "made a move to do something." So you could say something like "Bear Stearns moved to bolster investor confidence amid rumors of declining profits." But I'm not really sure why you would actually say that. "Bear Stearns bolstered investor confidence" or "Bear Stearns attempted to bolster investor confidence" would be better alternatives, depending on what, exactly, you're trying to say. Bottom line: you'll probably never see this construction on an official GMAT question, anyway.

Who will respond? A move? No. Hence it should be either A, B or C.

B - use of  their  with  General Motors  is wrong.

Thus pronouns referring to General Motors should also be singular (“its” and “it”). Answers (B) and (C) are incorrect because they use the plural “their” and “they.” “Responding to …Chevy” is a modifier and should be immediately followed the entity that is responding to negative reactions: General Motors. Eliminate options (D) and (E) because they transform a correct modifer to an incorrect modifier (and introduce a passive construction in the process).

A-Logically and gramatically correct. Nothing wrong with this option.Proper modifier placement to explain opening phrase and pronoun referrant is also clear.

C- this option is changing the meaning.Ques stem says "it was the company ( not its employees) that responded to internal MOU

responding to bla bla is v+ing modifier, and it is modifying someone who can respond. Hence GM is a correctly placed just after comma.

hence D and E are incorrect

Hold to A, as it seems clear.

GM is singular, hence, their is incorrect.
B is out

had usage is not needed.
C is out

A is clear win.
