Yeah, it would be nice. I originally said 80 because I logged into the portal right after the invitation email came through and saw at MOST 20 interview slots on each of the 4 interview days. But I'm by no means an authority on this so I could be way off...

Do you still see 10 spots open?

6 spots now

I got one finally earlier today. :). I will interview. Although it's quite ironic since I've paid the deposit to Stanford and if I do get in it will make choosing LgO harder now.

Edit: I don't know if its better to go to the program that is my first choice or to one that made me their first choice.

Congrats and good luck for the interview!

Can you tell me how many spots are still open?

[quote="ADC4"]Congrats!!! I see you chose the spot on Monday; good luck with your interview!

My fiancé thinks I shouldn't interview if I've made up my mind on Stanford cz someone else could make better use of this chance to interview. But I haven't made up my mind fully yet. What do you suggest?

Posted from my mobile device

Have you 100% made up your mind on Stanford?

Stanford was my first program of choice when I didn't even know about LGO

Stanford:

Pros:
-Can stay in my city
-Can continue my job part time and get funding from employer
-Or can do a TAship and it's basically free
-Offered me early hence truly chose me
-Full MBA (not limited to operations, though I'd still do ops only)

Cons:
-3 years vs 2 years of LGO
-MBA not so cohesive with the MS

MIT:

Pros:
-2 years
-Get away from Cali for a while
-Closer to family
-Well coordinated dual degree

Cons:
-Offered to interview me as a secondary option.
-TAships are hard as 8 credits each term vs 5 at Stanford hence will cost a bit.
-GSB is much more prestigious than Sloan while engineering schools are on par.

PS: deposit was 3500$ non refundable. I even filled out the background check form and am going to attend the meet and greet in February.

PPS: I am not too happy that MIT didn't choose me at first.

I would say that if you're fairly certain that you'll be attending Stanford then the generous thing to do would be to let someone else have a shot at LGO. However, if there's a reasonable chance you'd accept an MIT admissions offer if one was extended to you then go ahead and interview.

There were 7 open when I registered so I believe 6. They are still rolling the invites. I did send an email to them two days ago, expressing disappointment on not getting one and asking if I should consider following through with another opportunity at another school. They didn't reply for over a business day hence I paid my deposit yesterday and then today I got it. So ironic..

I have decided to interview cz I'd like to find out for myself. I will take an objective decision only if I have both offers. I do plan to be braver in my interview now cz I have Stanford to fall back upon. I will definitely ask a lot of questions.

GradQueen - I wouldn't look at it as MIT choosing you as a "secondary option." You received an email a couple of days after some of the other people but were still picked from a pool of several hundred to interview. Clearly they saw something special in your application or you wouldn't have gotten an interview.

Your reasons for Stanford sound like it might be a good choice and yes, it would be nice to give up the LGO spot for someone else to interview. However, if there's a chance that you would give up the "Pros" for Stanford to go to LGO, I think you should interview. Give it a shot, see what you want. It's a big decision and you should have all of the information.

I agree with others about interviewing GradQueen. If there's a chance you'd take it, then go for it.

So, I went through and put down who has an interview. Haven't heard from some individuals on this forum, but does this look right so far? I feel like it's half and half, which is crazy to me.

Thanks for compiling. The ~50% interview rate doesn't surprise me though; I think GMATClub members form a very self-selecting group...

Not yet. I'm trying to catch up with some work things. We've had some crazy weather here, and my job has a lot of traveling, so I'm getting home later. I have been thinking about it, just haven't written it up or had the time.

I have an initial draft - quite a bit of tweaking to do before it can be sent. I'm not great at getting started on open-ended questions like that, so it took me about 4-5 tries to write a coherent opening paragraph. Hopefully the rest of you have an easier time :-)

I usually write too many words. For the 250 word essays for the application, I had to narrow it down from 750 words. Hopefully I can condense my answer better.

Hi guys, sorry for not replying earlier. So I got an interview invite as well. But since I've committed to Stan and don't want to hurt someone else's chance, I am withdrawing my application. Cheers!

I edited the post with who has an interview invite, and just added yours as a withdrawn application. I'll update the post as we hear of acceptances!
