Hi,

Since it is given that PQ and PR are parallel to rectangular coordinate axis..
PQ is parallel to y-axis, so P will have same x coordinate as Q but different y coordinate..
Similarly since PR is parallel to x-axis, Pwill have same y coordinate but different x coordinate as R..

Statement I gives x coordinate of Q which is same as that of point P and statement II gives us y coordinate of R which is same as that of P..
So combined we have both coordinates and ans is -1+1=0

As explained in the attached figure !!

The distance of line PR from X axis is 1 unit.

Similarly, The distance of line PR from Y axis is 1 unit towards negative axis.

So co-ordinates of point P = (-1 , 1)

Therefore the sum = 0 (Answer)

As PQ is parallel to Y axis( X coordinate of Q will same for x coordinate of P) and PR is parallel to X axis(Y coordinate of Q will same for Y coordinate of P).

So -1+1 = 0 .C

Hi Bunuel,

I have one question. It is never mentioned in the question that PQ is parallel to Y-axis and PR is parallel to X-axis. The statement just says it is parallel to one of rectangular axes.
(only given figure says, PQ is parallel to Y-axis and PR is parallel to X-axis). A figure in any question is not to scale.

so let us assume that, PQ is parallel to X-axis and PR is parallel to Y-axis, (as shown in the attached photo)

now applying, statement 1 and statement2, we still cannot know coordinates of P, so answer will be E.

But however, if we go by info given in figure (PQ || to Y-axis and PR || to X-axis), then answer is C.

Please help.
