Just wished to put this information on a public forum so that future applicants can make an informed decision. IIM Bangalore very clearly lists on their website that they encourage candidates with 'preferably' 5-12 years of work experience to apply for its EPGP program. However there seems to be a disconnect between the Marketing team and the Ad-com. IIM Bangalore was not in my list of B-Schools to apply (owing to my 13.5 years of workex) until a person from marketing called me and assured me that IIM B encourages applicants with over 12 years of experience. He also cited examples of people with over 15 years of experience getting accepted into the program, a point I believe has been made somewhere in this forum as well. However the facts to take into account are:
a. There is apparently no change in the policy of IIM B with regards to candidates with over 12 years of work experience.
b. There is only one person - a female- who was accepted last year into the program and who had an experience of 15 years and 7 months. Statistically that doesn't make a difference as the rest of the class fell comfortably below the 12 years limit.
Therefore if you fall in the 12+ years of experience category and anyone from IIM B encourages you to apply, take that suggestion with a pinch of salt and make your own inquiries. I got dinged with a GMAT score of 750, 5 years of International Work-ex and a strong SOP. So, unless you are feeling lucky or have money to spare or both, it is best not to spend any time on this.
I have mailed back to the marketing guy who spoke with me - on call - to go back and check with his ad-com next time before he decides to lure candidates into applying.
