Couple of thoughts from me -
1. It is never a good idea to write a recommendation letter for yourself. Every individual has a distinct voice and style of writing that is clearly visible to folks in admissions team. They have read hundreds of applications to spot similarities in candidate's essays and LOR. Also, there could be IP tracking associated with the link and cause some trouble if you upload from your system
2. If you are applying to multiple colleges, it will be best to set the expectation with your recommendor of the same. It is best to have consistent set of people to write your LOR because they wouldn't need to be coached by you every time on what to mention
3. It doesn't sound like you're reaching out to the best person for your LOR. Is there another professor who has been impressed by your performance? Is there a mentor/guide in any of your Extra Curricular clubs/org who can help you out? Maybe your internship company's manager? Look far and wide and ensure you choose the right person.

Best of Luck!

Hello,
Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately, I have worked under this professor for 4 years and he has been my mentor for a long time now. I can't think of anyone else who is better suited for this recommendation letter. I will definitely keep these points in my mind.

It wouldn't matter if you are a fresher or if you've had 5 years of working experience with your supervisor, getting multiple recommendations from a single person is always difficult. You'll come across too few people who got their recommendations on their first requests. With that said, I'll give you a couple of tips:

(1) Don't be too objective about getting your recommendation, try and bring some value to the table. To give an example, you can't ask a girl out by simply asking her out you have to make that right conversation and the right impression. And in both cases confidence is the key

(2) Be very clear on what you expect from them. Let them know why you selected them and which experiences you'd like them to focus on. Try bringing positivity to the conversation. Hopefully by doing this they will find the appeal in recommending you.

Writing your recommendation for your self is fine, but like already said above it may or may not work for you depending upon how the admissions committee members view it. It's best to avoid it as the risk is too high.

Thank you for the tips. Makes perfect sense. I can provide him guide lines on which he can base his answers. Its better to avoid risking getting caught.
