Hi!
I'm currently facing a similar issue. I have gotten rejects from HEC, ESSEC and ESCP in the last week. My top four universities included these three and London Business School. Let me give a brief insight into my profile.
23 Years Old, Indian, Male.
GMAT: 730
Education: BBA in Sports Management, Bharathiar University - GPA: 6.93 (after 4 semesters)
Work Exp:
4 internships spread across 10 months.
One was around Social Media Marketing at a big sports media agency, the others were smaller companies. Roles were mostly Marketing and Operations.
Extra Curriculars:
1. Represented the UAE Under-19 National Cricket team in 2014
2. Vice Sports Captain of the School
3. Formed and headed the marketing committee of the first-ever sports fest organized by my college
4. Also head of the Registrations Committee in the same
5. Part of the Music Club in School
6. Learnt Indian Classical Music for four years
7. Earned Yellow Junior Belt in Taekwondo
8. Represented my school in an international level exam in Delhi
Extra facts:
Grew up in Nigeria, UAE, and India. Visited over 10 more countries as part of sports tours or vacations.
Goals:
To work in a marketing role at a company like Nike. Or in the Sports Business Group at Deloitte.
Not really sure as to why the rejections have come my way. As it stands now, I am looking at a few business schools which I think are a level below these four. I don't mind the course being one year long, as long as it lets me specialize in a field.
IE Business School, Stockholm School of Economics, Bocconi University, University of St Gallen, INSEAD, WHU, London School of Economics, Warwick University.
I have also considered schools outside Europe like NUS Business School and Cornell University. Only considering Cornell because it is a STEM course, which really eases out the work permits after my studies.
Do let me know if any of you have some opinion, as to whether I should look at any other schools or I should be able to secure a place in one of these. So far, I truly believed that I had a fair shot at ESSEC and ESCP, and now I still believe I have a fair shot at all these. If I am wrong, do point it out. Any feedback is appreciated.
